""This video was shot by the local parish government in South Pass. When we [CBS] tried to reach the beach covered in oil, a boat with BP contractors with two Coast Guard officers on board told us to turn around under threat of arrest.

"This is BP's rules, not ours."

We spoke to Coast Guard officials today. They say that they are looking into it.""

BP now makes rules that citizens must adhere to?

Bobby Jindal isn't waiting anymore for the Obama administration to get its' act together. He said that Louisiana is going to take more matters into their own hands to deal with the oil spill.

It looks as if CBS did not go to the Obama-approved site where the animals would all be happily at play.

Is the Obama administration working with BP to try to cover up just how bad this disaster is? I am beginning to wonder, based upon what I have been coming across...

The complete lack of news coverage would be a first clue. This is an epic disaster, and our Resident is giving his opinion on how LeBron James should go to the Bulls next year.

Obama botched this, no question about it.

And like Palin said, Obama is beholden to them. As she said, he received more campaign cash from BP than any other federal politician in 20 years.

I am certainly not against oil drilling offshore or anywhere else, but Obama is a corporatist/socialist, which is bad, bad, bad.

He supports gov’t controlled capitalism, not free market capitalism.

Obama wants a news black out on his disaster.

The millions paid by BP to Obama and the democrats pays off.

Obama botched this on an epic level.

And I bet that he knows it, too.

It’s no secret that there is an oil spill. Why no pictures? We’re not talking about exploitative photos of human corpses here.

statement from Rob Wyman, Lieutenant Commander, USCG, Deepwater Horizon Unified Command.

Neither BP nor the U.S. Coast Guard, who are responding to the spill, have any rules in place that would prohibit media access to impacted areas and we were disappointed to hear of this incident. In fact, media has been actively embedded and allowed to cover response efforts since this response began, with more than 400 embeds aboard boats and aircraft to date. Just today 16 members of the press observed clean-up operations on a vessel out of Venice, La.

The only time anyone would be asked to move from an area would be if there were safety concerns, or they were interfering with response operations. This did occur off South Pass Monday which may have caused the confusion reported by CBS today.

The entities involved in the Deepwater Horizon/BP Response have already reiterated these media access guidelines to personnel involved in the response and hope it prevents any future confusion.

Because without pictures the majority of people will forget about it in a while (i.e. along the same vein as the “if I see it then it’s true; so if I don’t see it it could be not-true” psychology-idea).

This is at least one side effect of the public education system producing so many functional illiterates.

I thought that a journalist faced with arrest for continued coverage of a topic would continue and get arrested.

The New York Times further reports, “Tensions between the Obama administration and the scientific community over the gulf oil spill are escalating, with prominent oceanographers accusing the government of failing to conduct an adequate scientific analysis of the damage and of allowing BP to obscure the spill’s true scope.”

“The scientists point out that in the month since the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded, the government has failed to make public a single test result on water from the deep ocean,” the Times observes. “And the scientists say the administration has been too reluctant to demand an accurate analysis of how many gallons of oil are flowing into the sea from the gushing oil well.”

“The Obama administration, it appears, has higher priorities,” Burkart suggested, “namely helping BP in its frantic efforts to keep the public in the dark about what is almost surely the worst environmental catastrophe in U.S. history.”

Oh yeah, media embeds are good....

That way they can take the media to the sites that they want them to go to?

But it looks here that CBS apparently goes off on their own and that then they are threatened - per what CBS said.

And who would ever think to say “This is BP’s rules, not ours” on their own? Hmmm?

Does BP think that they can make rules now?

For anyone to say that BP “has no rules in place” is laughable.

BP can’t make any rules for the media, even if there was a place that they thought was appropriate to make a rule.

Frustrated Louisiana officials Sunday demanded the federal government approve their plans to dredge up walls of sand to protect delicate inland estuaries from the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

“Either the Coast Guard has to side with its American citizens and protect its communities, or it has to side with a major world corporation named BP and betray American citizens in that process,” St. Bernard Parish President Craig Taffaro told reporters.

Coast Guard Rear Adm. Mary Landry, the federal on-scene coordinator for the response effort, told reporters the barrier island project was still under review. Environmental and wildlife officials “are weighing in on the impact to endangered and threatened species and other impacts this large-scale project could have,” she said.

Mayors and parish presidents were critical of both the government and BP’s handling of the cleanup, recounting stories of misdirected protective booms or skimmers that sat on trucks ashore. And a visibly angry Taffaro said the delays threatened his parish’s ecosystem and the livelihoods of his people.

“I don’t have a crystal ball,” he said. “But if I were a betting man, I would be betting that the plan is to let us die, then come back and do $75 million worth of cleanup and close the book.”

He said some officials had even suggested setting oil-soaked marshes ablaze, a step he called “not an option for us.”

“That kills our hurricane protection. It wipes out our species, our ecosystem and everything we’ve been fighting to protect,” he said.

It’s becoming obvious now: OBAMA DOESN’T KNOW WHAT TO DO.

He watches his daughter play soccer, he plays golf, he fritters his time away...he doesn’t know what to do about this crisis in the Gulf of Mexico.

This man reached his competency level a long time ago and now he’s flumoxed - he just doesn’t know what to do next.

He doesn’t possess any creative ideas and cannot figure out new ways to solve old problems. Out of control oil gushers ain’t new and there ARE people out there who can fix this problem.

That’s the problem with community activists. They only know old stale 19th century Marxist theories on redistributing wealth. Those have been tried and failed. New ideas require creativity, like how to create wealth and plug up oil gushers on the deep sea floor.

He hasn’t a clue what to do.

To add to what I said in post #15...

Some of what I have read says that there are unconfirmed reports of cameras and video recorders being confiscated (by whom would be anyones guess) and that scientists are being kept from setting up equipment to monitor and check out the damage.

“OBAMA DOESN’T KNOW WHAT TO DO”

“Rules for Radicals” is all Obama knows. Nothing else.

Worst President in American History. Obama is a horrifying curse on the nation.
