Kentucky Senate candidate Rand Paul is feeling what it is like to be Sarah Palin, the former Republican vice presidential candidate said Sunday, comparing the media's preoccupation with Paul's recent statements about the 1964 Civil Rights Act to her own treatment in the press.

Palin said that Paul is seeing firsthand how "gotcha" politics work after the libertarian-leaning Republican spent days on defense spelling out his support for the Civil Rights Act and the government's role in regulating how private businesses can deal with their customers.

Voluntarily being on Rachel Madcow's show, then gaffing about civil rights............not a good start.

Let's hope he's a quick learner now that he's on the national stage.

Actually, Rand Paul had been on an earlier Maddow show and had been fairly treated. The difference was that he wasn’t perceived as a threat to the left the first time.

I’m glad this happened, if for nothing else than to prove to those libertarians who hadn’t figured it out yet:

“You ain’t got no friends on the left.”

I'm not sure "pure" libertarians are capable of figuring anything out........

Is it too harsh to say that? I hope so.

I'd like Palin more if she'd stop whining all the time. Rand didn't get screwed by the media he screwed himself. If you're going to run for the US Senate you got be prepared to answer anything thrown at you.

Rand Paul is typical of Libertarians.
They are theory on paper wishful thinkers.

The world of reality is not capable of entering his mind.
