Entitlement mentality fostered in leftist indoctrination centers called “public schools”.
40 million people deadbeats, illegal immigrants, 9th generation welfare queens, lazy a$$ rednecks, etc. who are too lazy to steal on their own, so they get the government to do it for them.
Personally I think anyone who is found to have a pet, smoke or play the lotto should be forever banned from food stamps. That seems a little harsh. It's pets that help some poor people get by day-to-day (they are comforting; love you regardless), and smoking cigarettes is an insidious habit that is next to impossible to quit even in the best of circumstances, much less when fighting poverty, and lotto; we still give tickets to our kids for their b-days, graduation, and so on. It's cheap (they appreciate the "chance" of it all), and less expensive than purchasing a nice gift/going broke doing so.
Your example just shows what a distortion of the marketplace these “food stamps” cause.
I assume BJ’s is an expensive place to buy food. People probably wouldn’t be buying food at that place if they were paying on their own instead of it being “free”. This distorts the marketplace and doesn’t force more efficiency to get prices down to the market level.
I also wouldn’t doubt that foodstamps are being used for BJ’s either.
She looked very able bodied to me..and about 27 yrs of age, I'd guess.
Pissed me off...
Maybe on the planet hand wringer, but I would venture to say that it's hard work and a paying job that gets people out of poverty. (very unpopular) Study done in the 90's correlated total family hours worked to income. generally speaking families that were under the poverty level worked 20 hours or less per week. Next step up just over poverty level 20 - 40 hours a week. median income 40 - 60 hours a week and highest income 80+ hours a week. If welfare recipient wants to feed his three 80 lb dogs on my dime, I have a problem with that regardless of any "comfort" that they may offer him. Let him/her get comforted by earning a paycheck (and now you see why I'll never get elected to public office).
BJ's is a warehouse club. Not as cheap as looking at the weekly supermarket adds, but not extravagant either. Like Costco, sells in large quantities. I shop there sometimes, and I don't use food stamps.
I'd take back my kids in my house is a heart beat...but they would work.
FWIW-
Hon, people used to come into the bar I worked at and sell the government cheese, butter and peanut butter.
The leading health problem of the “poor” in America is obesity. We are feeding the problem.
The feds reported that 40 million households get foodstamps. There are only 80 million households in the US, making 50% of the households are on welfare.
How about just changing that to no one gets someone else’s money.
Theft is theft no matter how many people think it’s OK (and vote for it).
Maybe you don't realize that PETA donates old fur coats to homeless shelters.
Here is a posting to some liberal board: "In my town, Peta has donated old (real) fur coats to women in the homeless shelter. They have marked them recycled so no one can resell them, but they figured that they may as well serve Some good, instead of destroying them. Comments?"

Don't blame the poor woman. She may have gotten her fur coat legitimately.
I think it was 40 million people. 1 in 4 children is now fed with foodstamps. 20,000 new people join the program every day. Obesity is epidemic among foodstampers. Food just tastes better when their "rich" working neighbors foot the bill.
If we put foodstampers on a diet we could fund NASA to send Americans into New Worlds throughout the solar system. Instead we have fat people. Where's the Christopher Columbus of our age?
You're making me hungry for some Cajun red beans and rice!
Come, Lord Jesus!
I’m 27. In recent times I have worked jobs I didn’t much like but that’s better than being a gov’t mooch.
“Just more people ripping off the government”
Actually not. More like getting back what the government ripped off from them. Works for me.
