He Didn’t Just Lie About Arizona: Calderon Fibbed About Assault Weapons, Too
Pajamas Media ^ | May 24 | Bob Owens

Posted on 05/24/2010 3:36:03 PM PDT by AJKauf

President Calderon’s assertion that Mexico has seized around 75,000 guns and assault weapons in the last three years — and that more than 80 percent of them came from the United States — is a bald-faced lie. It simply is not remotely connected to the truth.....

I thought his claim of 7,000 gun dealers along the border had just a touch of exaggeration, too.

Yep, the druggies get most assault weapons from Mexican Army deserters or soldier-thieves.

Mexican mafia are packing machine guns, hand grenades, and bazookas.

You don’t get these at the Walmart in El Paso.

Anyone care to speculate on his motivation for this? What could he gain?

Like this is a surprise.

This needs to become a major plank in the Pubbie campaign:

“President Obama and the Democrats of Congress applauded a corrupt the foreign leader of a hostile nation as he lied about and condemned the lawful practices of an American state and lied about American gunowners.”

Why, rapturous applause from the Communists, er, ah Democrats in Washington D.C., of course!

He can divert attention away from the fact that it is his own people (army deserters) supplying drug dealers with arms and at the same time cement his victim status which will allow him to demand more money from the USA.

“Yes, it is an accepted fact that more machine guns (typically M16s) are sold to cartels from inside the Mexican military and police forces than are smuggled across the border from the United States.”

Interesting. I didn’t know Mexico had M16’s in any quantity. I thought I’d read somewhere their army and police primarily used the H&K G3. I guess they would have other weapons though.

The important thing is, they (the cartels) are able to get them because of corruption within Mexico’s borders. Maybe President Calderone should work on that instead of blaming the United States, hmm?

"What could he gain?"

In the end, Leftists are much more concerned with hurting the good guys than they are with helping themselves.

This is all part of Calderon's script! If you don't believe there is a conspiracy you are hopeless. All the crap is intended to justify what they've already decided to try.

The sheeple will eat it up!

Continued foreign aid in the billions of dollars and other political support from Barry0 who invited him here to denigrate the laws of the U.S.

Out law guns in the United States. More control over your own weapons. Also don’t forget the North American Union.....that is far from dead as far as liberals are concerned.

Calderon was filled with Obamao’s crap before giving his speech, and he spewed it out on Congress, much to their delight.

We (the United States govt) have been supplying Mexico's police and special forces with M-16s and M-4s for more than 10 years. The G-3 rifle is still in Mexican regular army service, but it is one of three standard longarms now, along with the FAL and the Mexican-produced FX-05 (based on the AR action). The FAL is largely in the hands of reserve units, and the G-3s are slowly being replaced with FX-05s.

The main source of ARs in Mexico is the Mexican police, who are the main recipients of the US aid.

Calderon's calim is a bit of clever sophistry - the weapons are in fact originally from the United States, but came into criminal hands from corrupt police and military officials, and in some cases theft.

I doubt Bazookas but I expect them to have communist made RPG’s, AK47’s. These are cheap communist subsidized weapons. American weapons are hard to make full auto and an M16 would cost 200 AK’s and you don't have to clean the AK’s much. Most likely they got M16’s form the local military.

OK. A little hyperbole. Press reports say rocket launchers. And hand grenades. Could be old Warsaw Pact stuff, that I don't know. Since at least some of the Mexican military is on the cartel payroll, it may come straight from them.

I know a guy who was a civilian tech working for the Mexican air force when he first got out of college. He says there were planes that they knew they were not to go near. His dad told him to get out or find himself drawn into something he wouldn't want to be part of, and he did. Went to work for an international company and got out altogether.
