An animal welfare group said Tuesday that a graphic video it secretly recorded shows workers at a dairy farm beating cows with crowbars, stabbing them with pitchforks and punching them in their heads.
The video was recorded in an undercover investigation at Conklin Dairy Farms Inc., said Mercy For Animals, a not-for-profit group that publicizes what it calls cruel practices in the dairy, meat and egg industries and promotes a vegan diet.

After watching the video, please join me in calling the Madison County Sheriff, James Sabin about the PIG beating the defenseless cows in the video.

I don't know anything about the group, Mercy for Animals, if someone wants to dig into who they are please have at it...but please call the authorities about the demonic treatment of the cows in the video.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the mercy for animals people were behind the mistreatment themselves — as a cynical stunt to further their cause (”veganism”).
Farmers are businessmen. You don’t treat your means of production like that, nor do you tolerate such treatment by your employees. Aside from being unnecessary cruelty, it’s not in their own best interest.
And to hell with all of these “animal rights groups”. They can go suck eggs.
meat tenderizer, no big deal.
The owner of the farm is ID’d in one of the sequences. These guys looks like sadists to me. I’d like to think their behavior is unique.
“I wouldnt be surprised if the mercy for animals people were behind the mistreatment themselves...”
Yes, aren’t they in favor of killing off all cattle? These people aren’t wrapped real tight in the first place, I wouldn’t put very much beyond them.

Interesting point. Quite possible.
I believe the video is unique also and I agree that the guys are sadists, which is why I was asking folks to contact the local Sheriff.
ranchers and farmers usually have a reverence for their animals.....
unbelievable if true...and if true, very sick people.....very sick...
When my husband was a teen, he spent many summers working on one of his uncle’s dairy farm here in, Ohio. I showed the video to my husband and he said he had never seen cows suffer that kind of abuse from farmers. Then he asked me why I had to show him the video. :-(
Most farmers care for their animals and don’t mistreat them, but these sure are horrific examples of what appears to be a culture of brutal abuse. Those farmers who do care about cows should be horrified and demand action be taken, not jump to the defense of the indefensible.
Larger and larger farms with more and more mechanized systems do tend to lessen the bond between farmer and animal—and involve more very low-paid workers who don’t have the same business incentive to well care for the animals either.
Thank you for your post!

The matter has already gone to the local prosecutor (who, interestingly, has not brought charges). What more action ought to be taken? Should we drive to Ohio and lynch the farmer, based on a video shot by a group with an axe to grind? What do you recommend?
If the evidence is genuine, then there is really no place in society for people who do this. Calculated and sadistic cruelty to animals, especially this extreme, is a very strong indicator of future calculated and sadistic cruelty to humans.
That people not give a knee-jerk defense denying that the scenes on the video could be or are real.
If you feel compassion for the defenseless cows - flood the local Sheriff’s department with phone calls, call the local paper, call the mayor - or - if you don’t think anything is wrong with the animal cruelty in the video -just forget about it and move on.
I’ve been in ag areas all over the west and midwest and only once have I seen anything near this. That was with a psycho who was also a BIG Republican donor. A neighboring rancher was a muckety muck in the Party and when he got wind of what was going on began refusing donations and essentially kicked the guy out of the Party. Nearly started a range war. The stories filtered out and the sheriff was after the bozo but he died before anything could be done.
>> denying that the scenes on the video could be or are real.
Oh, I’m sure enough that the “scenes on the video are real”.
What I’m not so gullible about is that the perps are employees or owners of the farm, and that the conditions are as the maker of the video would have you believe.
But I guess you have evidence that the video is just exactly what the militant anti-animal-use group says it is. Care to share that evidence? At least, call the prosecutor with your evidence if you don’t want to tell me.
You know I’m all with you about the animal rights groups. I do however have respect for life and I don’t act like an animal myself when dealing with animals. There is no reason to torture cows. I would slaughter a cow in a heart beat (there is nothing in my opinion better than steak). However, I would not gratuitously hurt an animal because I can. There is something wrong with actions like that, I don’t get the whole video.
This group is in favor of vegetarianism and I myself have no interest in a world full of only soybeans and humans. I also understand why some farmers may be wary of suburban and city do-gooders who have no idea of the needs and practical care of thousand-pound-plus animals.
But there is constant price pressure on farmers. They themselves are being culled from the market if they don’t respond to heavy cost pressures in ways that lessen standards of care below what a humane society should accept. Societal standards for humane treatment may be the only bulwark against both aberrant and growing brutality.
