“Other than King David, I am unable to recall any “great leaders” that were philanderers.”

Frankly, for the majority of history, it wasn’t considered philandering for a man to have more than one wife or concubines. This would cover most of the great men in history.

Not so much the “more than one wife part” as much as the part where he slept with Bethsheba while her husband Uriah was at war, and then had Uriah killed.

Multiple wives was very common at that time.
