President Obama's national security strategy looks beyond military might
Washington Post ^ | May 27, 2010 | Karen DeYoung

Posted on 05/26/2010 9:59:20 PM PDT by SmartInsight

Implicitly rejecting the antiterrorism rhetoric of the Bush administration, Brennan said that "our enemy is not terrorism, because terrorism is but a tactic. Our enemy is not terror, because terror is a state of mind and, as Americans, we refuse to live in fear."

"Nor do we describe our enemy as jihadists or Islamists," Brennan said, because use of these religious terms would "play into the false perception" that al-Qaeda and its affiliates are "religious leaders and defending a holy cause, when in fact, they are nothing more than murderers."

"...an action that eliminates a single terrorist but causes civilian casualties can, in fact, inflame local populations and create far more problems -- a tactical success but a strategic failure."

"Terrorists may try to bring death to our cities, but it is our choice to either uphold the rule of law or chip away at it . . . to either respond wisely and effectively or lash out in ways that inflame entire regions and stoke the fires of violent extremism. That is our choice. And with the strategy we are releasing tomorrow, President Obama and the administration offers our answer.

Maintaining U.S. global leadership will also depend on a strong domestic economy and a commitment to "education, clean energy, science and technology, and a reduced federal deficit," the White House said in talking points summarizing the strategy document, which is scheduled for formal release Thursday.

Bozo can't even lead the US economy much less represent global leadership. And what does education, clean energy, etc., etc. have to do with NATIONAL SECURITY?!

'Reduced federal deficit'?! These people are insane! They have done nothing but SPEND!

This is what happens when the patients rule the asylum... We now see an administration filled with academic clowns with no real world experience discussing plans to refine strategy... Much like we see the same panty waists debate the oil spill... Where are the real men -the real leaders?

Andrew C. McCarthy: Obama afraid to call it a ‘war on terror’

Read more at the Washington Examiner: http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/columns/Obama-afraid-to-call-it-a-_war-on-terror_-94700279.html#ixzz0p6cj2Eur

President Obama’s administration has been roundly ridiculed, and deservedly so, for its aversion to the language of war — indeed, for the word war itself. From the Bush language purge, though, it was but a short hop to this sorry destination. Short and inevitable.

Saul Alinsky, Obama’s community-organizing inspiration, waxed at length about language in “Rules for Radicals,” about the power of words to inspire ... or to enervate.

A civilization fights to preserve itself or it dies. Has ours become so hollow, such a pale imitation of its former self? Do we lack the capacity even to speak of the evils arrayed against us? Have we become so cowardly that our censure is reserved for our saviors, not our pillagers?

The Grand Jihad is banking on it.

It is sadly clear that we must suffer a devastating attack, either via some spectacular 9-11 style plot, or perhaps a steady increase in “home-grown” terrorist acts, such as we have seen of late. Regardless, something is brewing, something bad, we can all smell it. And Obama is not only incompetent and feckless in the face of a new Islamo-Fascist offensive, but he may well actually believe that his pathetic and naive approach to this dangerous world is the answer. Right up to when the smoke and dust of a devastating and terrible “wake-up” conflagration obscure the streets of another American city, and when his poll ratings hit absolute rock bottom.

New Phase

As our enemy adapts and evolves their tactics,
We constantly adapt and evolve ours,
Not in a mad rush driven by fear.

Our enemy is not terrorism, because terrorism is but a tactic,
Our enemy is not terror, because terror is a state of mind,
We refuse to live in fear.

Nor do we describe our enemy as jihadists or Islamists,
Use of religious terms play into the false perception,
Nothing more than murderers.

The United States is at war,
War against al-Qaeda and its terrorist affiliates,
Exercise force prudently.

Death to our cities,
American values remain the primary U.S. weapons,
That is our choice.

“....when in fact, they are nothing more than murderers.”

Yeah, right. Murderers who scream Allah Akbar on their mission to martyrdom in heaven.

Karen DeYoung was the WP reporter covering the Sandinista fight against Somoza in the late 70’s and assured us, like Herbert Matthews did re Castro, that they weren’t communists.

She’s still full of shit.

Rasmussen has this clueless bastard - Obama - down to the LOWEST rating ever - the gap between those who strongly approve of the bastard and those who strongly disapprove of him is now 22% - the lowest ever. (More disapprove of the bastard than support him).

Sounds like a set up for chipping away at the rule of law by denying anything untoward occurred a la ‘man caused disasters’

He is giving a green light to the terrorists — just come and attack us, we won’t retaliate.

Brennan’s statement would be laughable if it didn’t signal a very real danger to Americans. He’s not only ignorant of the history of Islam and the threat its extremists pose to us, but his PC state of denial shows he’s retreated into a political fantasy world. Reminds me of Napolitano’s statement that terrorism is not terrorism but “man-created disasters.” As Santayana said, “Those who do not remember the past are condemned to relive it.”
