Point # 1 - No treaty is valid unless approved by the Senate.
Point # 2 - The Constitution grants American citizens certain rights under the Bill of Rights. SCOTUS has recognized these rights as individual rights the Federal Government can’t violate and only “reasonable” restrictions are permitted.
ERGO, it would seem to me that surrendering Constitutionally guaranteed rights of American citizens to a foreign power is treason.
Its ESSENTIAL to contact all those Senators and let them know that their careers are finished if they vote to approve this idiotic agreement.
Given Obama’s current political woes and their own vulnerability, my guess is the Dem’s timing on this one may be off.
We SHOULD be able to kill it in the Senate.
If not, I see a lot of court battles with these bastards.
Surrendering the Constitutional Rights of American citizens to a foreign power is TREASON. Any Administration which colludes with a foreign power to abridge Americans Constitutional Rights should justifiably be removed from office.
No, it protects pre-existing rights from governmental infringment. Not infringement by other citizens. But it most especially doesn't "grant" rights.
Maybe it should be, but it's not. Not under the Constitution anyway.
Article III Section. 3. Treason against the United States shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.
