Well, it turns out that that very teacher that claimed to be unfairly compensated, and that she would love to make $83,000, actually gets a salary of $86,389. Plus healthcare. plus pension. In totality, it amounts to well over $100,000 per year.(Analysis from theblogprof)

Ha! She probably would LIKE to make $83k after taxes.

Sorry, you live in NJ! Try moving to Alaska though, where $86k is actually $86k.

This stupid woman probably thinks she doesn’t make 83K because she doesn’t take that home with her.

I do not begudge them a long long vacation for all they put up with!
Agreed. If I was a teacher I'd have been in jail a long time ago.
Their stories make me want to go in and and kick some butt ... both students and adults!

These days some teachers might not realize that 86 is more than 83 without an answer book.

If she has her half of FICA and Medicare taken from her base and 15% withholding and no matching pension fund payments or healthcare payments, she takes home around 66K.

“These days some teachers might not realize that 86 is more than 83 without an answer book.”

Or 86 = 83 if you feel that is the right answer. Self esteem and all of that.

Sheesh, and some people wonder why we homeschool and don’t think that parents are qualified to teach their own children because they don’t have education degrees.

Figuring out that 86,000 is greater that 83,000 isn’t exactly rocket science.

That much money for 3/4’s year of work with vacation, sick days, paid holidays, and weekends and nights off guaranteed?

What a crybaby.

I’d love it if mr. mm made the equivalent amount of money per hour worked.

She could always move to Texas, I think a masters degree in teaching might get you 48K a year

If she has ... taken from her base ... no matching pension fund payments ...

I work for a local gov't in NJ and have pension fund payments taken from my gross pay. I don't know about the teachers, though.

She must be a diversity queen, who can’t do math.

Slash her pay to meet her demands.

This old bag and her ilk are going to have a crap hemmorage when the monetary system (read fiat money) totally collapses in the not too distant future.

Greeks are paying up to $1700 per ounce buying British Sovereigns, while spot gold is $1208 as I am typing. I've got news for this educated beyond her native intelligence chick........your fat pension will be worthless in a few years, just like my social security checks will.

I do not begudge them a long long vacation for all they put up with!

I'M WITH YOU!

I mean, here they go into a profession that for years has been portrayed as sitting around with a bunch of angels eager to learn, aceing test , and just generally behaving in a manner that would surprise anyone who only sees out-of control kids at malls and elsewhere.

Suddenly they are thrust into a situation where the kids behave as though they are still at the mall, out-of-control, a school board that won't support the teachers, low pay, long hours, all things no one knew about.

AND they can't leave, once they start as teachers, everytime they begin thinking about doing something else, someone shows up and threatens them and their familes, forcing them back into the salvery known as education.

Tough, tough life, once it is chosen.

There ought to be a law that obligates society to let them know that it won't be all peaches and cream BEFORE they take that first job in purgatory.
