Scramjet-powered X-51A Waverider missile breaks Mach 5 record

On Wednesday morning, a US Air Force X-51A Waverider missile sustained speeds of Mach 5 for more than 200 seconds, the US Air Force has announced. The X-51A Waverider, which was launched over the southern California coast, is powered by next-gen scramjet technology.

I’ve been a fan of kinetic energy weapons since I read Heinlein’s “The Moon is a Harsh Mistress” way back when.

That, along with the original HTTP...the “Hypersonic Tungsten Telephone Pole” or the “Rod from God”....imagine what we could do to Kim Jong Ding Dong’s little toy submarine base if we delivered a 12” diameter by 20’ long solid tungsten telephone pole straight down on it at hypersonic velocity.

You might as well hit them with an frickin’ asteroid...it’ll sure look like it afterwards....
