Analysis: Tiahrt seems to trail in Kan. Senate bid

Congressman Todd Tiahrt's (TEE'-hahrt's) latest television ad all but confirmed that he trails fellow Kansas Republican and congressman Jerry Moran in their race for the U.S. Senate.

It even suggested Tiahrt may be significantly behind Moran.

Tiahrt's campaign scoffed earlier this month when Moran's campaign released internal poll numbers showing Moran with a big lead as the two campaign for the GOP nomination. But Tiahrt's ad suggests some truth in Moran's numbers.

The ad featured six votes. Five predate Moran's time in Congress.

He cast them as a state legislator in the early 1990s, as he and his colleagues at the Statehouse struggled to deal with Kansans' frustration with local property taxes.

He should do the honorable thing and pull out. He and Moran should not waste dollars in the primary fighting. Moran is going to be the next Senator of the state of KS.

It’ll be Moran in a walk. He’s got the money and the momentum.

I like Tiahrt and was pulling for him, but I also like Moran and have met the man, even know a close friend.

It’s going to be Moran, and that’s okay.

Yeah this was a race where the GOP really couldn’t lose no matter who got the nod. But it looks like it’s going to be Moran and I’m glad about that. I’ve been for him from the start because I honestly think he’s the more level-headed of the two and should be a leader in a future Republican senate.

I wish that Todd could get into the primary for his old seat as the Air Capital needs him for that part of the state. If Tiahrt was honorable and reads the tea leafs he should withdrawl from the race and let Moran save money from the primary for the general election.
