(KABC) -- Those suffering as a result of the massive spill are being remembered across the country.

In South Los Angeles, the First African Methodist Episcopal Church held a special prayer service Sunday.

The Rev. Jesse Jackson and U.S. Congresswoman Maxine Waters are just some of the distinguished guests who participated.

"Protect the earth, now. Boycott BP, now," Jackson told the crowd the service. "Don't pay the bill for the spill."

Even with the political context, this activity is far more substantive than anything 0bama has done to deal with this crisis.

What does these statements have to do with prayer and if we don’t pay the bill for the spill, how will that protect the earth? Why do blacks listen to these pathetic attention whores?

The boycott will continue until Jackson’s family is given ownership of half a dozen gas stations.

Did the good rev. Jesse Jackson preach about adultery when he was in the church? That is something he should know a lot about.

Ahh yes, eco-justice. Just like Bishop Pelosi commanded.

Under cap and trade, BP will probably make more money the less oil they pump.

It’s been almost 20 years since the LA riots she helped instigate (remember her press conference, “No justice, no peace”?)

Sounds like she is trying to start this up again.

The only difference will be that this time, the government will support the rioters, as opposed to the law.

God help us.

While we welcome all prayers of the faithful on our behalf, behalf of Louisiana and the oil spill, I would appreciate it if Jesse Jackson and Maxine, stop using this horrendous incident for photo ops and political exposure. It is really disgusting.

Exactly. Prayers of Christians are always heard by God and we need all the prayers we can get at the moment but this is an abomination. Jesse and Maxine, God is watching you. Don't use him as a political tool because he ain't going to like it much. Please continue to pray for us and our way of life.

If BP and its consumers don’t pay who will?

Maxine should have “socialized” BP a couple of years ago, so the taxpayer could have picked up the tab as they will have to do now.
