-3 Communications subsidiary EOTech, Inc. in Ann Arbor, MI received a $25 million sole-source, firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/ indefinite-quantity contract, to provide their optical sighting system for U.S. Special Operations Commands M4A1 carbines. Work will be performed in Ann Arbor, MI and is expected to be complete by May 2015. $262,636 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year, on Sept 30/10. The US Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division in Crane, IN manages this contract (N00164-10-D-JN68). EOTech offers a unique technology, thanks to its Holographic Weapon Sight. The firm says that their night-vision compatible sight combines ranging and aiming in one image, which is not affected by problems ranging from mud on the sight, to a cracked sight window. This simple simulator demonstrates the basic sight picture.

Now that I’ve escaped urban MA and retired out here in the TX boonies, I’d love to trade several pieces of my no-longer-needed “urban hardware” for one of those — even in semiauto only...!
What I like most abuot them are the “run and gun” qualities described at reply 9.
Order is in from felloffatruckareus....
An 30 isn’t as a 50.....where does it end ?
over my career I have been lucky to carry my choice of M4 or M1A.....each has its merits.
Just my experience.
Stay Safe !
Do you somehow think the .223 vs. favorite-caliber-here argument hasn’t been beaten to death unto a dark stain on the carpet long long ago?
We don’t need to go there again when it’s not the topic of this thread.
Some folks like Aimpoints better, and they have their qualities, such as 1,000,000 year battery life.
But I like the combo of outer circle to bracket the target FAST, with a 1 MOA center dot for accurate work.
Aimpoints have a 3 or 4 MOA dot, only.
Not saying Aimpoint is better for everybody......it’s a matter of personal pref.
Oh, don’t be a wet blanket. If it wasn’t for 223 vs 308 and 9mm vs 45, would there even be a reason for the internet?
(Just kidding.)
Have you used any of the “micro” red dots on revolvers? In my next book I have a character with a .357. He’s almost broke, so money is an issue. I’ve been wavering between conventional adjustable target sights on his SW 686, vs a micro red dot. He will make a great impossible shot from a moving car.
Porn?
Don’t go there!
Yeah I have an acog ta31d and a Comp M Aimpoint now an the night vision works very well for yotes with my comp M.
acog is my 3 gun match rig for now . It has the docter on top, good quick transition.
You know those guys from felloffatruck too? I love those guys.
Don’t be shocked if you hate the EOTech. Or love it to death. It’s like Glock vs 1911, or Ford vs Chevy, between EOTech and Aimpoint. Some of my Aimpoint loving friends think I’m queer or a commie for liking my EOTech. It’s almost a religious schism thing.
But NOBODY is for iron sights except as a backup. Nobody.
You know this shit much better than me, shooting 3 gun matches.
See 32. You rich guys and your ACOGs. When the revolution comes, we are going to take them away. It just ain’t fair.
So I 'settled' for an Aimpoint Comp ML2. I frigging love it.
I'm sure I'd love the EOtech just the same and an ACOG even more but...
You know what else I love? My Bushnell Red Dot. It was less than 50 bucks. So I bought three. One's on my Mossberg. One's on Mrs. L's Mini-14. The other is a backup.
For the price I consider them disposable. And I file them under "BTN".
Better than nothing...
Harumph. I just don't think you're giving the .45-70 its due here!
:)
I really like the EOTech, too. But like I said, on those really sunny Florida days in open ground, that illuminated reticle just disappears, turning the sight into a big ghost ring.
To my eyes, anyway.
I need to take it out on a REALLY bright sunny day and test it. Maybe aim at the sun or sumthin. Probly that sun you got down in SW FL is a lot brighter than up here in Florgia.
Way BTN!
