New poll looks at Tea Party views toward minorities
The Seattle Times ^ | June 1, 2010 | Andrew Garber

A new University of Washington poll suggests Tea Party supporters are not just angry about government spending and the new national health care law.

"The data tells us this opposition and frustration with government is going hand in hand with a frustration and opposition to racial and ethnic minorities and gays and lesbians," said Matt Barreto, a political science professor and director of UW's Washington Poll.

You know what...I am tired of all these accusations of being a racist this or discriminatory that.

I am a white, straight, female. I am darned proud of it. I am a Christian and proud of my religion.

And if you have broken the law you should be punished ...whether you are here legally or not. If you’re not here legally then you ought to have a lot more to answer for and you need to be deported. Note I said, “need to be deported,” not should be deported.

That’s right....the fact that people think suspected illegal immigrants should be asked for proof of right to residence indicates BIAS against minorities! No bias in this article..... sarc/

There are people of all races in the Tea Party. I saw a journalist asking a black gentleman at a Tea Party demonstration if he felt shunned as a Tea Party member. The gentleman answered “No, these are my people”.

I wish he had said to the journalist, I didn’t feel any racism except from you.

I get that too....from the left...every day

Yes, they display their irrationality in doing so. Hence they deserve the sobriquet "bigot," and you don't. Q.E.D.

"The tea party movement is not just about small government or frustration. It's (also) about a very specific frustration with government resources being used on minorities and gays and lesbians and people who are more diverse."

Horse manure. It was a bogus survey done by ideologues who either dont know jack about designing an objective survey or do know how to be objective and deliberately chose not to be.

Obviously, tea partiers are not enamored of those who play the victim card. It has nothing to do with race or sexual orientation. Whiners can get off their butts and get a damn job and stop complaining that I'm in their way cause I know I am not.

*Caught* BS. they didn’t give any information on views on minority they just gave some rather inconsistent(with others) poll data that make it look like they were highly selective in whom they choose to include the poll.

Sounds like this was an article made for political propaganda, with deliberately deceptive, yet also uselessly vague information on a push poll.

No such thing as a “rational near bigot.” To be anything remotely approaching a bigot you must be irrational. As to saved, you’re asking the wrong person. That’s between you and Him. But caring what others think about you when you’re doing what’s right? If you’re doing what’s right, you don’t have a problem, they do. Don’t care about what they think, just pity them in their bile and ire. Additionally, it really irritates them when you aren’t concerned about what they think, but are just amused by and pitying of them. Win-win!

Once more with vigor:

Their old tricks aren’t gonna work nor their biased BS pacify We The People this time. The Tea Party movement is growing every half hour as more and more people get more and more angry.
