GOP appears in good standing to reclaim Senate in November

Republicans may have a better chance of winning the Senate than the House in the midterm elections in November. And their prospects for taking over the Senate appear to be getting better by the day. At least thats what polls indicate. But politics can be fickle and poll numbers fleeting. So nothing is guaranteed.
The good news for Republicans comes in two parts. First, theyre ahead in four of the six open Republican seats and tied in two. Thats a great improvement from, say, late last year. Second, in the 11 Democratic seats in play, theyre ahead in five, tied in four and within easy striking distance in the other two. Not bad for a party that was crushed in the past two national elections.
Republicans trail Democrats 59-41 in the Senate today. They need 10 pickups to take control. To capture the House, Republicans would have to gain 40 seats, which is not out of the question but is still a steep climb.
Lets take a close look at the Democratic seats.

It would be good if the Republicans gained a majority in the Senate. But will the Republicans just be another version of Democrats like they were under Bush? Let's hope they have some new leadership.

I’ll believe it when I see it.
People need to keep working hard so that we can take control of our nation away from the commies.

Mitch McConnell is a good strategist, but he’s rather establishment. But he’ll be light years better than Trent Lott was.

Mitch McConnell is a good strategist, but hes rather establishment. But hell be light years better than Trent Lott was.I think you are right about that. McConnell will be much better than the Lott. Lott was a former Democrat, and he never really left his party. He was an extremely bad influence on the Republican party.

If the Republicans win the Senate and if they could take the house their mandate will NOT be to reach across the isle. But it will be to stop Obama in his tracks until 2012, and hopefully with a big enough win gut and/or repeal ObamaCare and the rest of the crap these a**wipes have passed.

Doubt it. If the don’t win the House back I can’t see them winning the Senate. Besides the Senate Republicans do not instill confidence. I’ll choose a House majority anytime except in case of replacing Roberts, Scalia, Alito, Thomas and Kennedy. Then we have no choice.
To: Fred
All Republicans need to sweep these races and grab control of the Senate after four years of Democratic rule are two things: One, voter turnout in which enthusiastic Republicans show up in disproportionate numbers; and two, a political wave across the country that lifts Republican candidates everywhere.
But the new Gallup generic ballot poll, giving Republicans a record six-point lead, suggests theres a better chance than ever before that both will occur on Election Day.
GOOD NEWS!!!

Mason Dixon is a good poll and they did show that result. But I choose to believe if accurate it has to do with a competitive primary. Once Republicans settle on a nominee the respective factions should come together and take a solid lead.

Obama and the Dems have fallen FLAT ON THEIR FACES 1,000 TIMES SINCE INAUGURATION DAY and haven’t been held accountable, so.. Don’t hold your breath that America will vote against them. Too many voters believe what the news media tells them, doesn’t think about what the news media DOESN’T TELL THEM, and are too stupid to question either. I’m tired of holding out hope for any change which will restore America. We’re effing DOOMED. Go to Drudge, look around and tell me we’re not DOOMED. God please just get it over with..

Tom was my Congressman for years and the next district state rep before that. He was a good rep and a hard nosed Congressman who just got to enjoying the power and forgot why he was there. I seldom if ever disagreed with his votes, but his ties to the lobbies and lack of ethics got old.

I will not take much stock in what Fred “Beetle” Barnes has to say on this. A few month ago he was convinced that the numbers were not there for the GOP. He said it on the FOX News round table.

True but that’s the thing I liked about him. It appeared that he had an actual spine.
