Sex and the City 2 divides like no other ( "Taliban... Al Qaida")

Rarely has a movie inspired a debate as caustic — or as sexually divisive — as Sex and the City 2, a comedy of fashion and privilege that’s being dismissed by critics as shallow and ridiculous, and embraced by fans as a female fantasy that men cannot understand.

Male and female audiences are often separated by subject matter, but Sex and the City 2 is doing more than that: When I saw it on a recent weeknight, I was one of two men in the audience of some 100 women. Warner Bros.’ exit polls show 90 per cent of the opening weekend audience was female, compared to 83 per cent for the first Sex and the City film.

And this loser probably didn't even score with those odds.

I could never stand the show, so there’s no way in hades I’d spend real money to watch those harpies in a movie theater.

It’s difficult to fathom how it could be more “shallow and ridiculous” than the original series.

Perhaps the impossible was achieved?

You can blow snot at him all you want, but "scoring" with a fan of this show is not necessarily a good thing.

He calls it capitalism at its most self-centered.

Anything nasty and stomach turning, call it capitalism.

A bunch of millionaire socialists making a movie about how capitalism and the American People suck?

Who’d of thunk it?

Right I think the UN has set up STD clinics in the lobbies of theatres where this is being shown.

“shallow and ridiculous” = “a female fantasy that men cannot understand.”

No kidding.

I recall reading a newspaper article (likely in the New York Post) when the TV version of the show concluded. The article mentioned various women who moved to New York thinking the show was realistic. Some mentioned how they had little money to their names because they’d go out every night waiting to meet men, and by the evening’s end, the women had to buy their own drinks since the suitors were either unappealing to them or not originating any moves. It’s remarkable how many people who think entertainment is real.

It’s a ‘female fantasy’ written by insecure gay men.

The scare-quotes around ‘female fantasy’ are because I don’t believe any woman worth the name would go near this franchise.

That films like this are even made, let alone have audiences, indicates the depth of our cultural decay.

Maybe next week there will be a movie about Tractor Pulls for the boys.

The entertainment industry as a whole has devolved into a propaganda machine for the Left. Check prime time TV out any night this week. There’s nothing of any quality to watch these days. Imho, the best entertainment is on DVD.

You noticed the underlying Marxist propaganda which is all this movie is:

Associate capitalism with “nasty”, make women seem so ridiculous and self-centered to turn off men, make women look like nothing but commodities that can be easily eliminated, elevate and glorify behaviors that create friction and unhappiness and especially make children unimportant and not worth any kind of sacrifice because we all know how horrible children will turn out if their mothers only think of themselves (if they live to be born).

Eventually creates such a divisive society that you need a supreme leader and government to create order again.

I watch news, selected sports, networks like the Food and Travel channels (depending on the series) and maybe a TV show such as “South Park” and that is really it. Most TV advertisements are detestable.

I watched about 5 minutes of it once when I was TDY. The topic was “f*ck buddies”. That was enough.
