Photos published on Facebook show top executives of Tribune Co. led by CEO Randy Michaels at a gambling, drinking and smoking party in the palatial Tribune Tower office once occupied by the companys patriarch, Col. Robert R. McCormick.
We are in the office of the guy who ran the company from the 1920s to 1955 its normally a shrine, wrote John D. Phillips, the Tribune Tower building manager who posted the photos. We pretty much desecrated it with gambling, booze and cigars. Good thing we know the guy who runs the building!

SMOKING!!!!
Oh, the HORROR!!!
You think that a CEO would know better than to blog things on Facebook...
I’ve worked in radio most of my life and Randy Michaels has quite the reputation for being a no-holds barred party guy. Really... I have no idea how he wound up in a CEO’s position. I wouldn’t invest in a company he was running, that is certain.
Who cares? It’s not like they’re partying in his crypt.
Mike Royko would have approved.
We could sure use Royko now.
Colonel McCormick was a World War I veteran of the 1st Division, the Big Red One. These muldoons clearly don’t know what went on in the trenches when the Krauts weren’t bothering them.
Booze, cigars, and poker in the Big Red One? Why Teddy Roosevelt, Jr. would roll over in his grave!
Amen.
