Rahm Emanuel Pays Property Taxes After Inquiry (Rahm "never" rec'd tax bill)
wbbm780.com ^ | 6/3/10 | Steve Miller Reporting

Posted on 06/04/2010 1:39:33 AM PDT by Liz

CHICAGO (WBBM) -- White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel was three months behind on his property tax payments until WBBM Newsradio 780 brought it to his attention..Rahm Emanuel and his wife accumulated a $445.56 penalty for the payment delay on their four-bedroom Ravenswood home. On March 2, when property taxes were due, Emanuel owed about $7400. The White House responded to WBBM Newsradio 780's inquiry and issued this statement, "Rahm Emanuel has owned his home in Chicago for 11 years and has always paid his obligations promptly. He never received this particular bill, but today, the moment it was brought to his attention, he paid it in-full immediately." Governor Pat Quinn, by the way, is up to date on his property taxes. And Rahm Emanuel's boss - the President of the United States? Also up to date. The treasurer's office says not quite 13.5 percent of homeowners in Cook County are delinquent on their taxes - up only slightly from previous years. SEE THE TAX BILL FROM TREASURER'S WEBSITE. RAHM'S CHICAGO HOME Nice big house, politically correct solar panels, big yard, one way street, 2.5 baths, 2,791 square feet.

BACKSTORY January 2007 USA Today reported on Emanuel and his wife’s tax-exempt "foundation" (operated out of their Chicago residence). The tax-exempt "Rahm Emanuel and Amy Rule Charitable Trust" was formed in 2002, when the 4-term Chicagoan was first elected to Congress. Rahm and his wife, Amy Rule (a convert to Judaism), are its only donors. At one point the Emanuels did not pay real estate taxes b/c their residence is the tax-exempt foundation's office. According to the Cook County Assessor’s website multi-millionaire Rahm Emanuel's Chicago home doesn’t exist. There seems to be no public record of Emanuel ever paying property taxes on this home. he Cook County Assessor’s and Cook County Treasurer’s online records indicate Emanuel’s neighbors pay between $3,500-$7,000 annually. Illinois Review was unable to locate any evidence that Emanuel--- a multi-millionaire---was paying taxes.

REFERENCE 4-term Congressman Rahm was beatified as the man who masterminded the Congress and WH Dem takeover. Rahm ran the "Our Common Values PAC" in 2005 and chaired the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee 2006-07. Rahm had Dems winning in solid Republican districts running as "true believers." Maoist Ohaha won saying things like, "I want to be another Reagan."

THE DEM TAKEOVER : In the 2006-08 congressional elections, Rahm Emanuel fielded candidates who were cued to babble in local conservative parlance. Similarly, Rahm and Axelrod catapaulted Barack Obama to national prominence by stressing commonalities of Blue and Red America (not how they differed). Maoist Anita Dunn's PR strategy was not to let the press interview Obama so that his calculated long-distance attacks on "failed Bush policies" left it ambiguous whether he was objecting to Republican ideology or incompetence.

No one was allowed to know Obama was an abortion worshipper, and that as a Chicago pol, Obama refused to let a law pass that protected babies born alive from abortions.....Maoist Obama said he was "afraid" banning P/B abortion would infringe on women's "rights" and doctor's "rights." Obama as a Columbia undergraduate was parroting leftist criticisms of Ronald Reagan. But when he ran in 2008, his handlers cued Maoist Obama to dupe voters......saying things like "I want to be another Reagan."

Emmanuelle’s wife and family live in Chicago. She must be too busy to pay the property taxes.

Is this the same residence that he was claiming was a non-profit center?

Too busy——yeah. LOL.

Rahm says they never received bill-——I believe it. Tax Collector “delisted” the property. That’s the Chicago MO to protect pols from paying taxes.

Here’s a thought: maybe their property is listed under “foundations.” LOL.

Now that I think about it, I never received a bill from the gummint for income tax last year! So, I guess there shouldn’t be a problem with not paying it.

WTF is wrong with Rahm Emanuel? If Tim Geithner could get away with not paying taxes then why did Rahm cave?

I have several times not received a tax bill. Know what I did? That’s right, called them and made sure they mailed it again.

But, I’m not a Democrat so not paying taxes has consequences.

People pay late. Burn him for the multitude of other reasons.

Exactly!

I have nothing but the deepest contempt and antipathy for Rahm "Keitel" Emanuel, but even so, it is a gratuitous waste of our precious political capital to try and make hay out of a missed tax payment that doesn't go beyond simple, garden-variety negligence and that gets promptly paid once it's brought to the taxpayer's attention.

Trying to make too much out of this is essentially an act of stone-throwing by those who may very well live in glass houses - there are certainly more than a handful of otherwise honorable republicans/conservatives who have, at least once or twice, been late on a tax payment. Do we really want to establish the precedent of making such penny-ante delinquencies grounds for a concerted political attack?

Besides, there are so many other things for which this fascist liberal so richly deserves to be attacked.

I’m more interested in what he claims is his primary residence vs where he resides and how much he saves in real estate taxes by declaring this info.

Suggest the knuckle head give the mailing address of where he really resides to the tax borough so he can receive and pay his taxes on time.

If he has Homestead status he should he should lose it.

Easier for him to pay this and make it go away than to stick to his guns and have someone start looking into the “foundation’s” books and tax-exempt status.

I thought his family became a “nonprofit” to dodge taxes-
their home is the foundation headquarters, the tuition paid to his kids’ synagogue private school is religious donations, his wife has some artsy job with a... nonprofit.
I guess everytime they travel (Kenyan “safari” in Dec 2008, Bar Mitzvah to Israel this month) - it is nonprofit business or official govt business.

and the tax bill is actually for unimproved property- the lot next door.
