Republican U.S. Senate candidate Mark Kirk accepted responsibility Thursday for a series of misstatements about his Navy Reserve career, including that he served in the Gulf War, that he once commanded the Pentagon war room and that he came under fire while flying intelligence missions over Iraq.
Kirk blamed several of the inaccuracies on his attempts to translate "Pentagonese" for voters or on inattention by his campaign

Rino In Trouble Alert!
Does this mean he DIDN’T defeat the Klingons?
Lying about your service in combat is a slap in the face of all who both served in combat and, especially, those who gave their life. Republican or Democrat, they should be defeated.
Absolutely pathetic. Especially since he actually served 21 years.
I have a set of rules when recounting my own service related stories:
1. They have to grounded in truth.
2. I am allowed to exaggerate by 10% within the first 5 drinks.
3. I am never allowed to exaggerate more than 20% period.
4. I can never claim to have commanded any war room. (How does one command a ‘war room’? Does such a thing exist?)
5. I am totally free creatively when recounting R&R’s.
5. I’m still trying to get back to Bangkok after 40 years.
Unfortunately,Mrs.Ursus will be traveling with me.
Lesser of two evils is still evil last time I heard.
I’ve voted in every election in Illinois since 1976, and have never voted for a third party candidate. But Kirk is such a “A.H.” I think this time I probably will.
Agreed.
LOL!
Gentlemen, there will be no fighting in the war room!
One certainly doesn’t have to exaggerate one’s daring-do in Bangkok.
Those were the days.

There were no misstatements here. They were just plain lies as an attempt to embellish his stature.
7. Always start a lie with, “There I was...” That way, everyone around you knows it is a lie.

What he ‘meant’ to say was “I was in charge (of head cleanup) in the War Room”.
The reporter didn’t know what a head was so he left it out.
“See, HIS FAULT, not mine.”

*IL Politics Ping*
Enough is enough. Time to demand and bring pressure upon IL Republicans to have Kirk step down from the ticket.

Actually, as young Marine Lieutenants we were taught the difference between a “Fairy Tale” and a “War Story.”
A “Fairy Tale” begins with: “Once upon a time...”
A “War Story” begins with: “This is a no-shitter.”
Wozers, how stupid can he be?
