(Bernie) Madoff Says "**** My Victims," Inmates Claim
CBS News ^ | 6/7/10

Apparently, the jail-house harassment is getting to Bernard Madoff.

First, the federal Bureau of Prisons said the convicted swindler was treated at a prison medical center for dizziness and hypertension back in December.

Then the Wall Street Journal reported that his trip to the infirmary was caused by a beat down from a fellow inmate, identified as a "beefy man."

Now, New York Magazine reports, Madoff cracked when another inmate chided him for bilking his victims out of billions of dollars.

"F*** my victims," Madoff allegedly snapped, loud enough for other inmates to hear. "I carried them for twenty years, and now I'm doing 150 years."

Of course, not all of Madoff's fellow inmates have a problem with the 71-year-old convicted swindler. Robert Rosso, serving a lifetime prison sentence, called him a "hero" on website he founded called convictinc.com. "He's arguably the greatest con of all time."

Madoff is spending the remainder of his life at a federal penitentiary in North Carolina.

Is anyone surprised. He’s been saying this with his checkbook for years.

The inmates were overheard to reply “Sorry Bernie, they’re not here.”

The same to you, Bernie, the same to you.

Perhaps the other inmates feel the same way. I hope you’ll make an old but still ‘useful’ June bride for someone in there.

So was it worth it Bernie? All those years of obfuscations and you living the high life. Hope you enjoyed it because the ride now is a slow burn downhill. Crime and deceit always ends badly—sooner or later!

I don't understand why other convicts are made at Bernie? He is the greatest criminal of all times, and he stole from rich people only. The should have a statue of him in the yard. He should be assigned two manservant's to take care of him. Criminals like to steal, Bernie was the best.
I think the same thing can be said for Scott Raeder in Kansas. It is legend now that convicts hate anyone that hurts a child. Many of them claim to be hurt as children and that's why they went down the road they did. Along comes Scott Raeder and he kills the American equivalent of Dr. Mengele saving the lives of dozens, maybe hundreds of children. He knows he will get caught and spend the rest of his life in jail, but he does it anyway. The Kansas prison population should hold Scott in high regard.

The guy is a snake. However, greed is what brought him his clients who now consider themselves “victims”.

Some of them probably do. Prison populations are not places one would want to be, but they have a pecking order amongst themselves for ‘better’ and ‘worse’ offenders.

Child abusers fare the worst, usually. Those in prison for breaking the law in avenging or protecting children usually fare better.

All subject to random chances with headcases, the bone mean and bad timing.

For some reason, this reminds me of Hunter S. Thompson's imagined dialogue with Richard Nixon after his resignation and while he was trying to redeem himself:

HST: "But Mr. President, what about the doomed?"

RN: "F*** the doomed!".

From what I’ve heard about who his victims were, I tend to agree with him.

Heh...good riddance to the fools.

I had a well to do client in the Sarasota, FL area (from NYC), yank her million dollar bond portfolio from me. She was making almost 10 percent (Taxable equivalent yield (TEY)) in FL municipal bonds, and she said, "I'm not pleased with your performance, and am transfering to an account to a Jewish friend of mine who can yield me 19%!

When I advised her that she had a AA+ bond portfolio with very safe capital security, I couldn't, in good faith, not let her know that she was being conned and that NO ONE can gurantee a 20% profit...its unrealistic and unethical.

2 years later, she called me and asked what I could do to get her money back since I was always honest with her. Found out that she took the 1.2mm from my account, added another 4-5mm and gave it to none other than Bernie Maddoff.

I asked how much she had left and she said a quarter of a million, but she owed 600k on her Manhatten condo.

I told her to go buy groceries and that "my 10 percent TEY muni bond portfolio wasn't that bad was it"?

“RN: “F*** the doomed!”

Not something he would have said. Besides, it was the left that doomed them.

Hunter s. Thompson was a nutbar. An amusing nutbar, perhaps, but certifiable nonetheless.

Madoff’s “victims” have never gotten much sympathy from me. I’ve lost money on bad investments, and didn’t go crying for sympathy or a government payback (like some of bernie’s “clients” did).
