So now when someone searches the words ‘oil spill’, on the internet, the top link will re-direct them to BP’s official company website.

Wrong.

Fail article.

Bullfeathers.

You cannot buy terms. You can purchase ADVERTISEMENTS. BP also search engine optimized some pages.

Grow up guys.

Oh for crying out loud. The idiot in chief and his minions managed to scrub every reference to anything about him prior to around 1995 or so and the world was silent. BP attempts to get their own spin to the top of the list and undies are suddenly knotted.

Apparently it’s a “tenacious spin attempt” aimed at people who are unaware there’s more than one entry on a Google page. Ooooooh, scary!!

Got 58 pages of links on the first term, and most are from leftist agitator sites AFAICS.

I’m shocked.

BP said from the first day that the spill amount was an unsupported estimate and not to be relied on. They, and the Coast Guard, also said that the response effort was based on a worst case situation and not on the spill estimate. They made those statements at every news conference I watched, and I never saw it reported.

BP is scrubbing too. Start searching for corexit toxic, etc. See how many are missing or are now listed as sites that will attack your computer. I’m seeing the same thing I did with the Kenyan Marxist stuff.

So Maryann, I’m to believe you are the answer to “real news”.

I don’t need your “help” if it comes in the form of BP bashing. If it was real news, there would be a bit more folks on the hook than just BP doncha think.

Throwing stones after the horse is out of the barn and everyone is living in glass houses, doesn’t solve the problems now does it.

Looks to me like BP is at least doing their dangedest to solve the problems.

Yep. I checked and the first three links lead you to BP, after that it is anyone’s game.

It wouldn’t surprise me.

Everyday, I get feeling google is filtering more and more searches.

Then again, I might just be paranoid.

This article is total BS. One can not buy search terms, but instead, one buys ad words.

Buying ad words in no way alters search results, it only alters the position of your ad in the list of ads, which are separate and distinct from the search results.

Just try searching for “oil spill” as the BS article suggests (I did), and the search results were what one would expect, and not what the BS article claims.

Whoever wrote this article is both stupid and malicious (just like Obama).

It's not paranoia if everyone really is against you.

But if they’re just another advertiser, then there is no conspiracy we can know about first.

BP’s premise here seems to be to have people see their site 1st and go there. Not to block other results.

Why do you mistake people taking apart your conspiracies as BP defenders. BP is an awful company when it comes to safety, but getting the top link to their side is advertising.

The results of this oil well were anything but predictable. This oil spill occurred because BP made a series of incredibly stupid decisions that no other large exploration company would ever make. There is absolutely no reason to shut down deepwater drilling in the gulf because of BP’s uniquely and amazingly stupid decisions.

If this administration really wants to prevent future offshore oil spills, all they have to do is kick BP out of America forever and force the divestiture of all BP assets in America. I vote YES on that proposal. Let’s give them the boot forever as punishment for their gross negligence and stupidity in the Gulf of Mexico.
