Joran: I brutally murdered Peru gal
NY Post ^ | June 8, 2010 | TIM PERONE

Joran van der Sloot, the prime suspect in the 2005 disappearance of American teen Natalee Holloway, reportedly confessed to murdering Stephany Flores in Peru after she grabbed his laptop and learned about his connection to Holloway’s disappearance.

“I did not want to do it. The girl intruded into my private life," van der Sloot told Peruvian authorities, according to La Republica newspaper.

He said he became enraged after Flores snatched his computer, snapping her neck and striking her, the paper said.

"She had no right," he reportedly griped to investigators. "She was scared, we argued, she tried to escape and I grabbed her by the neck and hit her."

The Dutch playboy was charged last week in the brutal slaying of Flores, 21 -- who was murdered five years to the day after Holloway, 18, vanished while on a class trip to Aruba.

Fox News, citing Peruvian media, reported that van der Sloot spilled the beans in order to get a reduced jail sentence.

So how many other girls has this sociopath murdered besides Flores and Holloway?

He murdered the daughter of a former presidential candidate. Any 'reduced sentence' he might get is still going to be 15 plus years in some Peruvian hell-hole. He isn't going to survive it.

"On a personal note here....as the mother of an only child, a son, how is it possible of doing a more rotten job of raising a kid than his mother did?"

As the mother of two sons, I also wonder. However, having seen troubled kids from what seem to be good homes with loving parents, I thank God that our boys are good kids. Despite parents' best efforts, some kids struggle or are born with a predisposition to addiction or violence. That doesn't excuse Joran's parents for covering for him in Aruba. Once his problems grew to affect people outside of the family circle, they had a moral obligation to protect society from his apparent tendencies to violence. If his family members have intact consciences, they have many years of regret and torment ahead of them.

I bet his mother wishes she had him in an Aruba jail now.

Karma

Yeah, Aruba will extradite him and slap his wrist for bad publicity.

If you live long enough you realize that good parents and good families don’t always guarantee good children. Finding blame in the parents may be satisfying at some level but it is not necessarily honest.

You’re right, of course. We just had a long discussion here last week about Ted Koppel’s son, who just died last week.

Your post and words are wise and important; I hope everyone reads them. While we cannot control the predispositions of addiction or violence, we CAN control how we parents deal with those things.

And enabling them, (or far worse) making excuses for them or covering up for them, seems like parental ass-covering to me, when a bold line in the behavioral sand is called for.

If you’re not willing for your offspring to be so mad at you that they can spit (out of sheer anger), I suggest getting an aquarium and some fish, rather than become a parent. Everyone benefits that way.

From day 1 of the Natalie Holloway disappearance, there has been something unreported in this entire affair.

IMHO, it isn’t explicable simply by this kid being a serial killer.

There’s a lot more to this entire affair than what is being presented to the public.

” how is it possible of doing a more rotten job of raising a kid than his mother did?”

Why is it mommy’s fault?

I know a local “good kid” who regularly drinks and drives.
When he isn’t drinking and driving - he’s going 100 mph on his new motorcycle.

Why?
Because his dad is a local cop.

He gets stopped - he gives his name - they send him on his way.

He knows he untouchable - therefore he won’t stop until he eventually hurts somebody.

Better be careful. Wife said couple she knows went through the ringer.
They disciplined their little brat and she told the nurse at school they were beating her
and not feeding her. (she's a fat little butterball)

On the kid's word alone, with NO EVIDENCE, parents were called in.
Social Services got involved, BULLSHIT GALORE.

The system is broken because the left-wing lunatics are running the asylum.

I guess they waterboarded him. Wonderful.

In those countries, they do not use soft methods like waterboarding. They beat the hell out of them and administer electric shocks. They also get them naked and put them in a room with the air conditioner at full blast.

Note to young girls: Being drunk, stupid and promiscuous can get you killed.

The only reason I single out mom in this, is because this guy’s crimes appear to be against females. There is something here not right. This kid is awfully young to harbor this much anger against females. I wish we knew more.

And if I was married to “local cop” dad, I’d have a good set of pruners in my hand while we had a discussion about him and his colleagues enabling his son. That young man is going to kill himself or someone else, or both unless he is met with a dose of punishment. These people are doing him no favors by letting him go.

And btw, he’s not a “good kid” if he regularly drinks and drives. But I suspect you know that already.

I can distinctly imagine such a scenario. Which is why I’m always a bit suspicious of these children’s services types. Trust me, years ago I worked at a state children’s psychiatric hospital...there isn’t much I haven’t seen.

But then, being on FreeRepublic, I’m preaching to the choir.

that’s right - “good kid” in the sense that is how he would be described afterwards.

I can hear it now “oh! but he seems like such a good kid”

handsome, likeable, and believe-it-or-not - quite intelligent (book-wise anyway)

I’m sure they think they’re doing him and his dad favors by keeping his record “clean” and name out of the paper.
In reality - arresting him is the biggest favor they could do for him.

As far as Van der Sloot?

You’ve got a kid who has long had a habit of carrying date rape drugs with him.
This was known even before Natalie.
His dad knew - the local cops knew.

Keep on preaching, sister.
People such as myself might have anecdotes, but you're an eye-witness.

Do you think it’s possible that the father knew his kid was toting date rape drugs? I’d never heard that before. Wasn’t his father a judge or magistrate or something? WTF? How stupid is that?

But his mother never knew?

This whole story is getting more strange and more depressing all the time.

Two young women dead...for nothing. meh

Good. After he gets done doing 20 years in Peru, they can send him to Alabama, and he can do another ten years there for extortion. If this guy doesn’t see the light of day until his late 50s, that’s as good as we’re gonnna do.

Then he could get back right away to selling girls from Cambodia and Thailand ........ as he was doing before

and bragging about it.

On a personal note here....as the mother of an only child, a son, how is it possible of doing a more rotten job of raising a kid than his mother did? I mean, seriously. My son is about the same age as this turkey and he’d never hurt a fly. It was hard enough to get him to help me set a mouse trap in the winter to catch a field mouse trying to cop a little heat.

Gee, I guess you should read up on Aruba and the wonderful family that he comes from

Try to read between the lines.

For ex, the $50,000 line of casino credit given by mom and dad when sh*thead was 16 or 17 (even tho it is illegal to go into the casino till he’s 18)

Does your son have one of these lines? Mine don’t.

And what is Aruba famous for?

Why would anyone want to live there?

And

Why was Dad cruising for young girls in the same casino on the exact same night as Dumbhead ...

and even spoke to the same girl on camera (Natalie) ???

Wonder what HE said.

I read that the family is a good Catholic family but they sure don’t act like it ...
