It would seem to be that his semi-celebrity status would have somewhat of a protective effect, all other things being equal. Seems like the Peruvian govt. would rather have him slowly rot away over many years, than have to announce to the world that he was killed by inmates. If he were an unknown, nobody would know (duh!) and more to the point nobody would care.

Count me in the pool! I say 3 weeks, starting from the end of his trial. As someone mentioned earlier in this thread I figure the Peruvian authorities will keep him wrapped up until they’ve had their trial, then amongst the sodomites he well go...

Joran had to confess. The evidence was over whelming and they likely came close to beating it out of him with endless interrogation.

But he won't survive in prison. He isn't street wise like the other Peruvian inmates. He will be HIV infected, killed or eventually take his own life.
