Obama and the Trouble With Voting 'Present' (Karl Rove)
Wall Street Journal ^ | June 10, 2010 | Karl Rove

Posted on 06/10/2010 6:03:31 AM PDT by chickadee

Even now, Mr. Obama looks like a spectator, albeit an angry one, barking at White House aides to "plug the damn hole" (now that's a good idea no one has thought of) and telling NBC's Matt Lauer he's in search of an "ass to kick."

But the main political behind that's being kicked is Mr. Obama's. The latest ABC News/Washington Post poll says Americans give the federal government a 69% negative rating for its handling of the spill, compared to a 62% negative rating for Washington's handling of Katrina in August 2005.

This pattern of being merely present has been apparent almost since the first days of the Obama presidency. He may unveil his mighty teleprompter to help pass what Congress has drafted, but this White House seems strangely disconnected from crafting legislation.

"Take my word for it, Americans don't know how to NOT BE free . . .

On this, I wholeheartedly agree. Some Americans, at least.

>>>> "When Obama shifts into 'street' language, he reminds me of those opera singers who try to sing pop music." <<<<

Who do you think is advising him?

Seems more & more that he's doing weird stuff, on the basis of advice from persons who seem to want to SABOTAGE him.

I mean what is more phoney than some effete intellectual Harvaaard educated millionaire using gutter slang, in some bizarre attempt to appear "manly."

Was it Bill Maher who suggested such a weird line of action???

Now..... were Michelle Obama to come out and give a speech about kicking the butt of ol' massa oil giant BP, that would be entirely believable because her street smarts are AUTHENTIC.

Do you think maybe Oprah is advising him???

Say... what YEAR did Oprah give birth to a boy child that allegedly died?????

Obama voted ‘present’ as his long range political plans wanted NOTHING to reveal his ideology. The O was schooled and trained by real slickmeisters.

I’ve thought from the beginning that he is the product of a committee. Just a man of the right color, the right education, the ability to give a wonderful speech. He is the true “mini me”.

Hmmm - I could believe that more easily if he hadn’t had such a long and close affiliation with Jeremiah Wright. If his competition had been anyone other than Hillary, it would have mattered more. Hillary had enemies on both sides of the aisle.

Also, I think Obama’s team was shocked that he won in 2008. I think 2004 was just supposed to be the trial run.

He’s the product of all those democrat think-tank secret conferences where they cobble together their ideas and schemes. And build a monster. He’s Frankenbama.

Bingo! Certainly bears repeating. Anyone who has no real values cannot lead... This has certainly been proven time and time again over the last year and a half.

Worse than voting “Present”, he has partied, had bbqs, golfed on many occasions and had 2 vacations in the last 52 days.

Obastard is weaker AND more radical than Carter and everyone knows it. The useful idiots elected an empty campaign slogan and got nothing more in return. Obastard has let SEIU and liberal congress write every piece of legislation he has signed. He is less of a leader than a wooden statue.

Obastard wees himself as more of a king who feels he deserves to be treated like royalty.

Obama is all glamor and no grunt. He just wants the privileges that come from being president without having to do the work that the office requires. Typical of his career.

And let’s not forget this:

In 2008 during Paulson’s “September Surprise,” McCain suspended his campaign and ran into the middle of the mess. And what did Zero do? He announced, “Call me if you need me.”

The guy likes playing President on TV, but when there is work to do he’s not even present.

He is younger than Carter was when he left the WH. This nightmare could be with us for a long, long time.

Agreed. It used to be the 'Rule' that ex-presidents quietly retired from public life and refused all invitations to comment on the policies of a sitting president. Then along came Jimmy Carter -- who totally disregarded that tradition. Bill Clinton also let loose a few broadsides on his immediate successor, GWB. Obama has benefitted from a Cult of Personality like no other president in modern times. The opportunities for political mischief after he leaves office will be both large & numerous.

It’s easy to talk like a tough-guy when you are being interviewed by Matt Lauer. Lauer is truly un-masculine. Probably why he is so successful as a male anchor on a morning TV “News Show” that is increasingly designed for female viewers.

Can you say "hapless", children?

I prefer the term feckless.

Why do you think he voted “Present” 126 times.

Who told him this was the best strategy?

Alice Palmer?

Just before she went to Moscow?

Americans give the federal government a 69% negative rating for its handling of the spill, compared to a 62% negative rating for Washington's handling of Katrina in August 2005.

And that's with the media doing everything it can to downplay the severity of the disaster this thing really is. Notice we aren't seeing all the dead and dying animals and fish or the miles and miles of oil soaked beaches, swamps, and wetlands? Imagine what the rating would be if the media actually reported the whole truth?

And that is with a eulogizing press filled with Zero's partisan shills, vs the hysterical, race-baiting partisan shills who piled Pelion on Ossa to get at President Bush.
