Saudi Arabia Gives Israel Clear Skies To Attack Iranian Nuclear Sites
The Times ^ | June 12, 2010

Saudi Arabia has conducted tests to stand down its air defences to enable Israeli jets to make a bombing raid on Iran's nuclear facilities, The Times can reveal.

In the week that the UN Security Council imposed a new round of sanctions on Tehran, defence sources in the Gulf say that Riyadh has agreed to allow Israel to use a narrow corridor of its airspace in the north of the country to shorten the distance for a bombing run on Iran.

To ensure the Israeli bombers pass unmolested, Riyadh has carried out tests to make certain its own jets are not scrambled and missile defence systems not activated. Once the Israelis are through, the kingdom's air defences will return to full alert.

"The Saudis have given their permission for the Israelis to pass over and they will look the other way," said a US defence source in the area. "They have already done tests to make sure their own jets aren't scrambled and no one gets shot down. This has all been done with the agreement of the [US] State Department."

They don’t want Iranian hegemony over the Middle East.

This is NOT credible, I do not believe it. The only credible source to trust for this kind of information is the New York Times.

Seriously though, this could be a leak by the -22bama regime to thwart a real Israeli plan.

‘What’s in it for Saudi Arabia?’

Dominance of the Persian Gulf. This story sounds strange, but the Times is a good source.

The Saudi’s view Iran as a threat but don’t have the Military to do anything about it. As usual, it will be up to the Israeli’s to save the world.

Yeah, I’ve heard that too- and don’t believe it. They continue to support radical Islam just like Iran. They’re two peas in the same pod.

If true, we (the US) are in on it since we control the airspace and would immediately detect and intercept any unauthorized aircraft.

I have a friend who’s leaving for Israel in a week for a 4 week stay... I told her she’s crazy but she’s going anyway.

Israel would do the world an enormous favor if it could eliminate Iran's nuclear capability, but I don't really buy this story. From what I've been reading, Israel would require more than one mission to seriously cripple or destroy Iran's nuclear facilities, many of which are underground in fortified strongholds or in mobile labs. This wouldn't be as easy as taking out the Iraqi facility.

Are the Saudis going to keep their airspace available to the Israelis for the several days of missions it would probably take? How about for the war that follows? Isn't there a real danger that the Saudi royals would be toppled by the Wahabi fanatics who their rule depends on?

Yep, they did. Saudi and most of the ME oil nations know that Iran/Syria want control of the oil nations....so for a long while these nations have “secretly” supported whatever measures are taken to keep Iran from going nuclear....even though they may be supportive of Iran in the news.

IMO, leave it to the press to broadcast something like this. Why? This kind of stuff should never be trusted to the press prior to any event, as we all know that they will tell the target. It should have been held until after the raid.

“What’s in it for Saudi Arabia?”

One less “twelver” and a few less nukes in the region.

They may believe the same thing, at least religiously, but the Saudis don’t won’t a nuclear power next-door, especially run by fanatics. Saudi Arabia is a strong and staunch supporter of Islam. But it is like the old joke about certain aspects of Christianity, I believe in the afterlife, I’m just not ready to go today ... or something like that.

Saudi Arabia firmly believes that a nutcase with nukes is a threat to them and they can’t attack Iran themselves without angering the other Muslim countries. Besides, I believe that this is just another move to try to get the Iranians to stop enriching uranium without violence.

Still don’t trust them. And when Iran is eliminated, they’re in the power seat, both economically AND religiously.
