No, I don’t know her, but I’ve read her blog. On her website ( http://www.abbysunderland.com/ask-abby.php ) she wrote, “I am taking my school books with me so that will keep me busy. I dont want to stay in high school another year so Im motivated to get my school work done.” She also has several non-academic books on board, including the book “Do Hard Things” by the Harris brothers and stuff by Tolkien, as well as a Kindle.
Even beyond her reading, she has received quite an education navigating the world — more than most teens.
I wonder why we’re so quick to criticize this accomplished teen.
“she has received quite an education navigating the world more than most teens.”
More than MOST adults!
No one is criticizing her. I think her very brave.
It doesn’t change the matter that she was misguided in undertaking this venture, and that the cost of rescue will be borne by third parties who were not part of the decision process.
We are criticizing the adults in her life who should have done a better job in guiding her.
Because she failed and even though she is safe, the finger of blame must be pointed somewhere so that the MSM can sell laundry detergent.
