texgal, from what I've seen other states do exactly that. They let someone else decide (from the past CA, or some very liberal state back east) and then they all decide to buy the textbooks to get some sort of discount.

That has always bothered me, because growing up in IL I knew what they were teaching wasn't really reflecting my values. But hey, I was a kid, so went along and studied and passed the tests.

I think this is a great development as far as teaching what the majority of us want our kids to learn. Values, some religious background behind the founders, etc. You Texans can make a difference in the future!

I believe that for the most part most Texans are wanting conservative values taught to their children.

If this idiot writing this piece of garbage doesn't like it, let her sign up for the textbook committee in her state, spend the hours reading and commenting on the books and have her state adopt what she wants taught. She could also homeschool her kids, but that might actually require her to think and take time with the kids. Something she apparently doesn't want to do.
