So could it have been a Navy sub taking a peek at the beach? "It's kind of uncommon," Bena said. "But it's a definite possibility."

Was it a topless beach?

Ruskies? Chi-Coms? NorKs? One of our own subs? I wonder if he had a chance to stick his face right up to the periscope?

Years ago, we were sailing a mile or so off the coast of CT. We were the only boat in the area — or so we thought. Less than 1/8th mile away, a naval sub surfaced and while doing so blasted its horn! Boy did we jump!! Sailors all waved — as they made their way into the sub base in New London.

Leaving San Diego Harbor on a 5 day tuna trip the captain spotted a sub surfacing a mile away off our port beam. Pretty neat sight to see it in person, especially because it looked like an older diesel model that was riding quite high in the water.

Better start carrying some U-Boat repellent out in the Gulf.

Cute story. Did not know there were any Florida “fish farmers”.

As I used to say to my first dog -- "OK you chase cars; what are you going to do if you catch one?"

Thirteen years later he caught one, but he still didn't have an answer.
