HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Hartford Mayor Eddie Perez says he will step down as mayor while appealing his conviction on five corruption charges, including taking a bribe and attempted extortion.
Perez was convicted Friday in Connecticut and faces up to 60 years in prison, with each of the five counts carrying a minimum of one year in jail. The jury acquitted him of one count of tampering with evidence.
Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 10.

Perez's spokeswoman, Sarah Barr, sent an e-mail to the media calling for "a moment of pause."
...he'll have time to pause later...?????...maybe she meant paws

Hmmm? No mention of party affiliation in the headline, no mention in the body of the article.
If you look at the earlier AP article you'll discover in the 10th paragraph that the convict is indeed a Democrat.

Since the very first word, and repeated several times throughout the article, is not “Republican”, it is obvious the guy is a Democrat.

Yup, there were multiple hints. It's getting too easy.
I wonder if these "reporters" have any idea how predictable they are and that we openly mock them?

Hartford Mayor Eddie Perez says he will step down as mayor while appealing his conviction on five corruption charges, including taking a bribe and attempted extortion. What, another Connecticut elected official convicted of corruption and extortion? Is it Tuesday already?

Didn’t they also have a governor or mayor who took money this way, and is now in prison?

He is indeed a democrat but his personal story makes this just too sad. He was a gang member as a kid and had a juvie record. He turned his life around, got a degree from Trinity and entered politics. As a hispanic in Hartford he really had an opportunity to influence school kids. There’s not a lot good going on in Hartford these days but Eddie Perez could have been a great influence on kids. Now he’s just one more street rat going to jail. Very sad.
