The Washington Post ^ | 6/19/2010 | Jim Fitzgerald

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- The court-ordered election that allowed residents of one New York town to flip the lever six times for one candidate - and produced a Hispanic winner - could expand to other towns where minorities complain their voices aren't being heard.

by whom?

The GOP doesn’t have the guts. The government of Obama probably loves it.

The worst part about this is, there’s nothing in the article except the authors explicit plea for more judges to violate the Equal Protection Clause.

I guess this is what they mean when they say that the Constitution is a living document.

The only reason unconstitutional crap like this works is because ethnic minorities are motivated by their racist ideology and cast all their votes for someone with their skin color, whereas feel-good liberals spread their votes around in the spirit of “faaaiiiirness”.

Illegals do not have the right to vote because they are not citizens. They came here illegally. WHAT PART OF ILLEGAL DO THEY NOT UNDERSTAND!

It is not unconstitutional. It is called cumulative voting and has been done for decades in many different cities, counties and school boards.

Every voter had six votes to distribute however they wanted.
Cast one vote for six different candidates.
Or three votes each to two candidates.
Or four votes to one candidate and one vote each to two other candidates.
Or all six of votes for your favorite candidate.

In some areas, cumulative voting could enable a white candidate to get elected for a change.

This is just the start, most don't realize it, but many “modern” socialist countries actually reserve a certain number of seats on their Parliaments for women and minorities. So if you happen to be a white man and your area has already reached it's “quota” you're out of luck no matter how many votes you get, the seat is going to a candidate from one of the protected classes.

Cumulative voting? Not unconstitutional???

No wonder the damned lefties have been winning so many elections for “decades”. Silly me....I thought it was only because of leftist voter fraud, cheating and of course ACORN.

Does this mean I get six votes this November? If not, I am being discriminated against. Fair is fair (except when you’re dealing with leftists/socialists/communists).

There is nothing technically wrong with this approach. In fact - without checking - I think it yields better results for what the voters really want.

There are many issues with how we vote - selection processes are not as mathematical as they should be.

There is nothing wrong with this technically. Now as far as judgment - for their being a reason to implement this method with a GOAL of helping a specific party - there is lots wrong with that.

EVERY VOTER gets the same number of votes.
You cast your six votes for the most conservative candidate.

AGAiN...
This cumulative voting system has been and is used in lots of local city, county and school board elections where people have the same number of votes to cast as there are seats up for election.

Yeah, except now it should really be called the “once-living document” because liberals have succeeded in killing it.
