Rep. Jo Bonner, an Alabama Republican, is calling on Rep. Joe Barton to step down as the ranking Republican on the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

Bonner is the second Republican, following Florida Republican Rep. Jeff Miller, to call for Barton to step aside.

In a lengthy statement, Bonner said his colleague’s Thursday comments regarding BP “sadly fell short of an appropriate response.”

There is a disturbing third-world element to the way Congress and the White House are publically attacking this company and its CEO.

On the other hand, this company and its CEO were founding fraudsters of the "cap 'n tax" scam to confiscate trillion$ from American taxpayers. Really, this whole situation is populated by a steaming heap of dog feces. Every one of them. You just want to flush Washington DC like a great big toilet.

His apology was as sincere as Ethridge’s was earlier this week. The man apologized under threat. We know what his true feelings are and those unlikely changed with the ‘so-called’ apology.

Wonder how Jo feels about her re-election chances? Getting less by the moment, I’d say. 4+ months to go.

I live in Jo Bonner’s district.

Jo is a just a life-time politician that will do whatever he can to keep his office. He’s not really capable of doing much else.

Jo worked in the former congressmen Sonny Callahan’s office. Sonny loaded his poctets in DC before he retired. I remember the big yacht he was building after he retired. Jo was part of the same useless office and all we got was a continuation of more of the same useless bs.

Jo needs to go. We couldn’t accomplish that this time but he’s a real target to dump next time.

If you add all the years that Jo has been in Washington, working with Callahan and now in congress, you’d quickly realize that HE’S PART OF THE PROBLEM.

I am a conservative and I’d love to send Jo packing for home.

Uhmmm...it ain’t because of the “uncomfortable truth.” It’s because they’re all lined up apologizing for telling it. Including the one who told it.

From what I heard... it was more ..”Apologize or ELSE ... “

I would have been far more impressed if he said “Can’t apologize for Telling the Damned Truth”

Me too. In a sane world he would’ve told the Republican leadership and the media, “I don’t work for you. I work for the people of my district. Pound sand.”

Unfortunately, with the amount of campaign cash he takes from the energy sector there is a concern about just who it is he does work for. Which very well may be part of the problem here.

That's the worst part of all of this. Barton was 100% correct, but politically at this time, it was the wrong thing to say with our leftist media looking for any excuse to shift the blame to the GOP. Barton's statements were accurate, but politically, they are a potential disaster in this nation of moronic voters.

Did you notice the Dems announced their latest “get out the vote” campaign today? If you have to beg people to vote, and buy them off, then it isn't a popular party.

Get real people.

BP is about as popular as a child molester.

Apologizing to BP is political suicide.

That’s why NO elected Republicans will defend Barton.

What EXACTLY has Boehner done for us lately? He maintains his tan while occasionally saying a few words of “tsk, tsk” to the communists/socialists in the White House. The Republicans for some reason are refusing to call press conferences to give out their web site and state their policies and plans for action...they could buy TV time or print space to state their plan of action for this country. The socialists are forever out there in our faces pounding us from every direction, while the Republicans make no continous effort to keep the public informed and updated on what the Republicans stand for....you don’t hear a damn thing from Republicans. Paul Ryan, Jim DeMint, Michele Bauchmann to name a few are out there, but where the hell are the rest of them??? Get off your rear ends, Republicans, and get in the face of the public and tell them of your plan of action...or lose them, and the country.

Barton should not have apologized to BP executives like Heyward, they are a big part of this mess. He should have appologized to us for this Unconstitutional power grab without any legislative or judicial branch action whatsoever.

This guy was having his lobbyists push for Cap & Tax. Increased Gas taxes and to get Beyond Petroleum.

This is the line of inquiry that should have been taken. BP provided housing for Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel for years while he was a Congressman, what has been your relationship with him.

Your executives gave President Obama $1 million in campaign contributions, what contacts did you or other BP executives have before the Deep Water rig disaster since MMS gave you a safety award?

You must be joking, some of these people were involved with killing term limits, pushing amnesty, producing budgets with $400 billion deficits. Holding a vote open for 3 hours on Prescription Drug benefit entitlement, passing McCain/Foolsgold 1st Amendment violation that was thrown out by SCOTUS this year. The Scazafava fiasco, backing Charlie Crist, Arlen Specter, and other notoriusly bad members against good conservatives.

There are many more examples to have been physically ill.

You are EXACTLY right!
Here’s what’s happening, if you look at it objectively.
This oil spill has been an outright GIFT to Obama, so perfectly timed that it almost seems to strain credibility
that it was completely an “accident”.
By watching and waiting for WEEKS, and decidedly NOT lifting
a finger to “help” or be a leader on ANY level, Obama has made a serious
oil spill into what threatens to be an eco-disaster, just as
in the same way he took a recession and did all that was necessary to turn it into a Depression, engineering some kind of cockeyed inside-out and upside-down latter-day Marshall Plan as if we were already war-torn Europe in 1945-46. He has shaken down a major corporation, BP, for MORE stimulus money, which will have NO meaningful oversight, and is so huge a sum that hundreds of millions can safely be channelled into newly formed versions of his favorite buttboy interests, like ACORN and
SEIU. These will basically be staffed by a newly created
constituency who THIS time will be getting BP’s money, rather than the American taxpayers, though it’s still us that will be paying ‘in the end’. BOHICA.
ALL THE WHILE he has monopolized public attention with
a show trial and constant self-righteous noises about how
the guilty ones will pay, thereby obliterating ANY mention
of the practical help offered from a variety of countries, and COULD have taken 7 weeks ago , but PASSED ON.
NOW is the time to demand oversight.
The same oversight and transparency they promised but never delivered the FIRST time they started talking about ‘stimulus’ money and started printing it, and distributing it.
The feckless Republicans who led the charge against Barton,
and Barton himself, who folded, need to be reminded that it is WE who will determine their future, NOT the Democratic Party.
