Newly proposed legislation would give the federal government authority to seize and even switch off the Internet during a national crisis.
The bill, put forward Thursday by Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn., would allow the DHS to issue emergency orders to companies providing services such as search engines, software and broadband Internet, according to CBS. Companies that didn't comply would face a fine.
"The Internet can also be a dangerous place, with electronic pipelines that run directly into everything from our personal bank accounts to key infrastructure to government and industrial secrets," Lieberman said. "Our economic security, national security and public safety are now all at risk from new kinds of enemies: cyberwarriors, cyberspies, cyberterrorists and cybercriminals."

Not as dangerous as a leftist, whiny little bitch like you, Lieberman.
I stand corrected. I read up the history of the bill!
he apparantly embraced the whole idea of it! I just thought Bush didn’t like it at all. It only turned out he didn’t like some things, and he had it modified before he signed it off!
It was the brainchild of many in the Congress!
Thanks for your correction! My head hangs in shame!
Yeah, and the so called "conservatives" who are so damned stupid they think that tyranny is ok as long as it has an (R) by it should have been leading the charge.
Your breathless sense of terror at tyranny seems a bit misplaced after 8 years of enabling Bushco to run rampant over the Constitution.
NOTE:be aware that this may not be directed at YOU the OP individually at all, but at the majority of "conservatives" who have cheerfully enabled and defended the Bushco tyrants in enabling a large government to "protect" us. This stuff is PRECISELY why we were yelling our heads off about this stuff under Bush.
This is what you get when you put an attorney in charge of security. Only a fellow lawyer like Obama would think that was smart.
