The only thing attributable to McChrystal was his reflection of their first meeting where he stated that O’bummer was ill prepared and seemed intimidated by the military brass.

The truth hurts.

Amen. There is NO DOUBT that B.O. was like a fish out of water with that group. Not only does he hate the brass, but he has not even an elemental understanding of the military. He himself could never have made it through basic training, much less officer candidate school, etc. For a person who flaps his jaws for a living, it must have been awful to be in a roomful of men whose masculine actions earned them those stars and bars.

You know, I understand some people being intimidated by the top brass (I've witnessed that with my son who nearly had a fainting spell when I walked up to the next person in line and shook hands, exchanged pleasantries and extended my thanks for his dedication to preparing young men and women at OCS [the Commandant -- who knew, he just looked like a very nice man everyone was ignoring]), and I also understand someone not being up to speed on military issues. I'm not intimidated, although I don't have any idea how to wage and win a war. I do, however, know how to articulate my goals and what I wish to achieve. If I set the goals to eliminate civilian casualties and still wish to wage “war,” I would give that directive to my generals and let them figure out how to make that happen. If it didn't happen, my generals could expect an invitation to meet and, if necessary, my butt would be jammed in a seat on the next transport out to make that happen.

I would also make damned sure EVERYBODY on my team was on the same page. I don't expect my president to know how to wage war, I expect him to set the agenda, keep in constant contact with those who do know how to conduct a war, and if ANYBODY in my administration got in the way of protecting my troops or put them in danger with his (or her) big mouth, it would be their last appearance in a public forum and on behalf of my administration.

I expect my president to be disciplined, principled, honest, forthright, wise and committed to defending and implementing the Constitution of the United States of America. Perhaps that is what McCrystal thought he was electing (being somewhat occupied elsewhere during the presidential campaigns). He obviously didn't find those qualities in Senator McCain or he would have voted for him.

Unfortunately, for Gen. McCrystal, he was too busy to research who his boss would be and wound up serving someone who has risen to the level of his incompetency. On the bright side, if we're lucky, the rest of our military won't have to serve under Corporal Schicklgruber, if we all get it right the next time.
