Stunning images as storm breaks over Chicago (Amazing Lighting Bolt Strike)

This is the extraordinary moment a photographer captured bolts of lightning striking not one, but two Chicago landmarks at the same time. Electricity rushed down the lightning rods atop the The Willis Tower and the Trump Tower at the exact same instant last night. Seen through the rain from the Hancock Tower, the strikes lit up the sky around.

Amazing picture!
When I lived in Chicago area, the lightening strikes sounded like bunker busting bombs going off, and the whole house shook from the shock wave passing.

Not really. Just about any decent camera with a time exposure and an adjustable F stop can perform lightning photography. Some luck is required in that the camera needs to be pointing in the direction of the flash while the shutter is open.
Here are a few shots I took a few years back with my D200. Nothing fancier than a camera and tripod.

I am SICK of these damn storms!
Last Friday’s storm killed my power for 31 hours. Yesterday’s storm only zapped the power for 29 hours. Twice in 5 days. Grrrrr!
BTW, how are ya? Been a long time.
