IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) - Republicans from across Idaho took aim at the 17th amendment during their state convention, calling for repeal of the measure.
A GOP committee narrowly passed a measure Friday to include language in the state party's platform that seeks to nullify the amendment created a century ago to shift election of U.S. senators from state legislatures to voters.

That would be my recommendation....you can trace the start of this country's demise back to that.

Works for me. Get rid of the 16th too while we’re at it.

The people definitely got the short end of that stick.
Letting us vote for senators was the good part of it. Unfortunately they slipped that no recall crap past us.

While we're at it, we oughta amend the 14th also, to remove the anchor baby provision.

For the life of mine, I’ll never understand the logic behind refusing the vote to a sector of the population allowed to own guns. Still, the “repeal the 19th” idea comes on FR from time to time, and it sounds serious enough to not be some running gag I’m not “getting”.

“Sen. Jeff Siddoway, a Terreton Republican, joined more than a dozen other delegates in voting against the proposal, saying it takes voters out of the equation.
Siddoway told delegates: “You’re giving up your right to vote for people who are representing you in Washington, D.C.””
So either this guy does not know how our government works (stupid) or he is a democratic operative.
Who does he think that the House of Representatives represent? Who does he think votes them in every two years? With supposed Republicans like this, who needs enemies? Someone needs to pull ole Jeff aside and explain the difference between the Senate and the House and what our founding fathers did at the beginning that was brilliant beyond their years.

Moving to Idaho? Welcome mat's out...we need more conservatives to offset the Left Coasters and Commiefornians that have infested us over the last decade. Ada County, especially.

Works for me. Get rid of the 16th too while were at it.
Go to the Library of Congress website and do a search on House Joint Resolution 16 that will repeal the 16th Amendment.

Do we really want politicians electing politicians to a 6 year term in the US Senate?

While we're at it, we oughta amend the 14th also, to remove the anchor baby provision. There's no such provision in the 14th amendment.

That was the original intent.. The compromise says let the people decide the house and the states chose the Senators.. I think there would be a lot more conservative state houses if we didn’t have the 17th..

Yes.
These United States need to send state ambassadors once again to the federal government, not three term congressmen.
