GRAND RAPIDS -- South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint -- a Tea Party favorite -- on Friday helped shore up conservative support for U.S. Rep. Pete Hoekstra's bid for governor.
Six weeks before the Aug. 3 primary, Hoekstra, R-Holland, is in a close battle for the GOP nomination. And DeMint has had a bit of the Midas touch, backing a handful of Senate candidates who won primaries over candidates backed by party leaders, including Kentucky's Rand Paul.
