On Wednesday, the same day President Barack Obama ousted his humiliated Afghanistan commander, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs walked into the Oval Office with more grim news: The cap on the gushing oil in the Gulf had been dislodged.

“What?” Obama replied incredulously. “Well, why did it do that?” A remotely operated vehicle had knocked the cap right off, he was told, leaving oil rushing out as furiously as ever.

If you haven't figured it out yet, Politico is another media suckup to the Bamster.

Anyway, I thought Obama was the smartest, most competent, most compassionate, most competent, smartest most qualified master of the universe that this country has ever seen. Just think of the Pavlovian reaction/description that SGT Raymond Shaw's fellow POW's used to describe him; well, that is the way Obama was described to US.

But, but, golly gee, uncontrollable events just keep piling up on the Bamster; and, the solutions are just a might tough to reach-ain't it a shame that such a bright young 'rat President has to go through all this.

You can read this garbage if you like; but, I quit when I learned that "many Republicans" want Petraeus to run for President in '12-nothing like Politico trying to pick the GOP candidate. As far as I'm concerned, I don't know squat about Petraeus-he may turn out to be another Colon Powell. Look at McChrystal, he voted for this bum we have now and Petraeus may have, too.

where a White House is whipsawed by wild, almost unimaginable events that threaten to reshape the public perception of the Obama presidency at every turn.

No. BHO's response (NOT) to the oilspill only SOLIDIFIED what we already knew about him and his presidency. Which ain't pretty.

He's not only wholly incompetent and a dangerous bumbler, he's a horrible politician to boot.

WTH do these people think happens when you're President of the United States? If BHO had been actually GOVERNING in a responsible, mature (non-adolescent) way that had built trust between him and the American people, he would have had some political capital to cushion him through the oilspill, plus, by terms of the scenario, he would have done a better job managing the spill -- because he would know how to govern in a responsible, mature way.

But he does not know how to govern. He is incompetent and an embarrassment. I can only pray to God that the American people are powerful enough to put the brakes on him in November before he completely destroys this country. I am not even sure he is sane (in touch with reality).

“All you can do is smile at the absurdity of these things piling up,” said someone who spends much of the day with Obama.

I don't play golf, but I am sure there is a version of this maxim in that sport as in others: sometimes you make your own luck.

As for absurdity, I dunno, there always seems to be a certain hubris in the universe. One of my favs going around has to do with when Obama creepily mocked his political opponents (including the American people) after healthcare reform passed:

"I'm not exaggerating," Obama told the crowd, "leaders of the Republican party, they called the passage of this bill 'Armageddon!' Armageddon. End of freedom as we know it. So after I signed the bill, I looked around to see if there were any asteroids falling, or some cracks opening up in the Earth. Turned out it was a nice day."

Those attending the rally burst into laughter and applause.

"Birds were chirping, folks were strolling down the mall," the President continued, "people still had their doctors."

Ha Ha, cracks opening up in the earth? Well, of course, about a month later, a rather huge crack opened up in the earth under the Gulf of Mexico and oil spewed forth, turning the oceans red.

Now that's pretty dramatic Theatre of the Absurd, I'd say!

I wonder outloud sometimes if Zeros game of choice was shooting pool (instead of Golf) and smoking cigars just how much slack he’d be cut then? (well he’s too stupid for Poker)

G-D it, Joe Barton was right. It was a shakedown...there is no authority anywhere for a president to force a company to set up a slush fund.

The more Obama "talks" about the spill and demonstrates his knowledge of the technology ("just plug the hole") the more he takes OWNERSHIP of the spill. It is fascinating to watch and not unlike and Old, Old tale from Uncle Remus:
