Cities Discovering an Arizona Boycott May Do More Harm Than Good

Boycotting Arizona is harder than it sounds.

Though the passage of the state's immigration law was met in late April with immediate threats to cut ties with Arizona in protest, a number of cities have either scaled back or created exemptions to their own boycotts.

The resolutions also have demanded a mountain of work by officials at the city level tasked with reviewing hundreds of internal contracts for any trace of Arizona to see whether it's prudent to cut ties. As the review process gets underway, the result may be a patchwork of targeted boycotts rather a blanket ban on all things Arizona.

The Los Angeles City Council was the latest to amend its boycott last Wednesday, when lawmakers voted to make an exemption so that an Arizona-based company that operates enforcement cameras at Los Angeles intersections can continue to do business there.

Unfortunately, due to long-term contracts already in place, Arizona can't do that even if they wanted to.

Their hands are tied, but many circumstances are beyond their control.

It's much easier to declare a boycott when your own state or local government is bankrupt. You save embarrassment by not having to pay vendors, contractors or innkeepers in Arizona with GOLD STATE promissory vouchers (IOU’s).

This is why it is so important for us to ensure that EVERY candidate for political office is smarter than belly button lint. These elected morons live off the public dime and haven’t got the brains that God gave a goat, much less enough sense to participate in running a government.

Frankly, I’m sick of all of them . . . . . . . . . or could you tell?

The one thing that SHOULD be boycotted everywhere they make an exception for. [facepalm] "If you're helping us grind the average Joe-with-a-job under our boots, you're OK. Exemption for you!"

Bunch of morons. Like the valley girl who is boycotting Arizona Tea (made in New York)

This law is so foul that even a product NAMED after Arizona should suffer. < /liberal mode>
