We were without power for a week but fortunately for us the weather was nice and we had a generator.
Speaking of which, might be a good time to get gas and exercise the generator...

I think it was about 3 to 5 mph short of a Cat 3 at landfall, and one nasty hurricane.
A tropical depression, such as Allison, under perfect storm conditions, can mess up your life for a good long while.
Stay safe :)

I don't know where you live but a Cat 2 hurricane can cause a lot of damage. Galveston and places along the coast were devastated, homes destroyed. Galveston lost all its century + oak trees because salt water covered the roots. Houston is 50 miles from the coast and we were devastated. Huge trees blown down in my yard and all over town. No electricity, traffic lights, gasoline pumps, fresh food/milk in the stores for 2 weeks. Some places electricity was off longer. Ike was a devastating Cat 2 hurricane.
