(CNN) -- Police in Portland, Oregon, say they have reopened their investigation into a massage therapist's allegation that former Vice President Al Gore had "unwanted sexual contact" with her in 2006, a police spokeswoman said Wednesday.
"The Portland Police Bureau has made the decision to reopen the case regarding the allegations brought forward against Mr. Al Gore," Detective Mary Wheat said in a statement issued Wednesday afternoon. "Consistent with our policy regarding open investigations, the Police Bureau will not be commenting on any additional specifics regarding this case at this time."

She showed up for a massage and he said, “What about my Dingell/Norwood?”
Really? From 2006? That's unusual. Usually, it's 2-3 years for incidents not involving minors (much longer for minors, as seen by the Catholic Priest scandals of the last decade). I knew Maine had a long SoL for civil torts arising from sexual assaults(6 years) but I thought that was the longest in the country. That's interesting.
The transcript is here, and given Gore's ego, sense of entitlement and general arrogance I tend to believe the woman.
I wonder if anyone else will come forward ?
It was just as you had described. A normal period, which I don’t recall exactly, plus an add-on due to the fact that Al Gore was out-of-state. The two time frames, added together, put the drop dead date at 2011.
I wonder if his recent split from Tipper was caused by this or something similar yet to emerge ?
OK, I get it now. You're describing the criminal statute of limitations. There are separate statutes for filing torts. I would be surprised if the time allowable for her to file a tort on this particular "incident" has already elapsed. It's not impossible, just unlikely, since we're already nearing the 4-year mark.
I don’t know if statute of limitation would apply, anyway, because she went to the police well before this. They just dismissed her.
“I tend to believe the woman. “
I mentioned on another thread that her carrying her massage table to the room (recorded on video) sealed it for me. I don’t think prostitutes ever do that.
There are other reasons, too, like she was referred by the high class hotel and is on their LMT roster, has a history of legitimate business, and no prostitution history.
Pretty elaborate sting for a political liberal to use on Al Gore, if it’s a false accusation.
I really don’t believe every accusation of sexual assault. Even if it is against someone I don’t respect (like Gore). I know anyone can say anything, and people look for money or notoriety or power.
But I believe this one. I think she will win her case.
Remember, the statute of limitations isn't an investigative limit, but a prosecutorial/legal limit on the court. It strips the court of jurisdiction on cases that become "stale". The police can be investigating from the moment the crime occurs, but prosecutors have "x" amount of time to file charges or indict. Once that time expires, that's usually the ballgame.
There are some complicating factors that can extend the limit, and algore's absence from the jurisdiction would likely be one of them, extending the clock for him to be prosecuted at least a little.
We didnt give it to him.
LOLOL
It’s so hard to pick just one!
