It’s more than two years ahead of the 2012 presidential vote, but a new Zogby International survey conducted for The O’Leary Report has found a clear majority of independents think it’s time for somebody new in the Oval office.

The Zogby survey was conducted June 25-28 with interviews of 2,061 registered voters. The survey has a 2.2 percent margin of error.

When asked if they think President Obama should be re-elected or is it time for somebody new in the White House, 50 percent of the respondents overall said they want somebody else as chief executive. Obama should get a second term, according to 41 percent of Zogby’s respondents.

Too bad that we need to wait until 2012.

Actually if conservatives can stick their guns and get a lot more real conservatives elected in 2010 we can stop more liberal agenda he tries to ram down our throats after 2010.

It is already a failed presidency, and Obama is a lame duck.

41% would re-elect this incompetent loser? I find that discouraging, as these are independents. I expect that among dems.

Independents have opinions. Those opinions just don't happen to conform to the party lines of the Democrats or the GOP. If the Tea Party evolves into a real political party with a platform to roll back government spending/power and fields candidates who are serious about that platform, I'm on board. Otherwise, given how out of touch the GOP is these days, I guess I'm going to be an independent too.

While this is good news, I find the 41% figure to be disturbing. I would have thought it would be lower given Obama's dreadful performance so far.

“Somebody else” is the most popular candidate in about any election. As soon as Zogby puts some names to the choice then their polling results will start to mean something.

Don't forget that Zogby is the one who uses the special sauce. We don't really know what he's doing (or not) to massage these numbers.

The support among the Hispanic voters is why zero is seriously considering unilaterally granting some form of amnesty to illegals before the November election. He has lost substantial support among independents and white voters.
If even the feckless and slippery BOR thinks that chaos would reign if zero granted amnesty to illegals, then we will be in a rough ride.
If that happens, martial law time?

Make the poll a “likely voter” poll and he’ll drop another 4 pts.

24% of Jewish voters do not want 0bama to have a second term. I never thought I would see the day that American Jews would betray the state of Israel in order to favor their liberal/socialist bent.

This sounds almost like an Onion headline. The onion would have it like this. “discredited pollster finds obvious is true. Asks for forgiveness.”
