“Kagans thesis is now out there? Where is the Usurper’s?”

When the truth finally comes out about the Usurper, there may not be any thesis. I’m convinced that he was allowed to skate through his whole acedemic career with no requirement to do any actual work. We’ll see.

And by he way, the truth always comes out. But sometimes it takes a long time.

Numerous individuals I have known who have gone through the system tell me that graduates of Tokyo university usually didn't have to participate in learning exercises.

The idea was that all the attendees were smart guys and gals who were so intelligent there was little the university could provide them but discussion space off campus in various noodle shops, and that the professors could write booklets for them to read if they wished.

This is supposedly the primary reason Japanese industry "retrains" and "reindoctrinates" new engineers, accountants, management types in their fields once they are hired.

Eventually performance, not "smarts", counts.

I fear that Obama was pushed through top tier schools in this country on exactly the same basis ~ that he was considered a bright young fellow simply for having been selected to "be there", so formal education was not required of him!
