This wasn’t/isn’t something to celebrate. It was a tragedy.

It was a tragedy. I fault the Iranians who piloted that plane for acting in a belligerent manner, refusing to answer radio communications and flying that path during a time of hostility.

It was a shame and a tragedy...innocent people killed in a time of battle, but it could have been prevented.

It did highlight the need for better management of information and data as well.

Yeah really.

We made a horrifying mistake and downed an airliner full of civilians... "Aegis all the way!"

I wonder if this is connected to the missile downing of TWA 800 off NYC?

I still maintain the captain made the right decision in the heat of what was going on. If he hadn’t done that, and an Exocet missile had been launched, he would have been derelict in his duty.

We had problems with managing the flow of information, and the Iranians exacerbated it by deliberately making it worse.

We learned from it, ,but they didn’t.

As we have learned from experience, a few shahads could
have turned that airliner into a cruise missile.
Sad, perhaps, but no AMERICANS were harmed in this
incident.

Why were the bodies of the individuals on that Iranian airplane naked when they were recovered? I had heard rumour that there was a good chance many were already dead when they encroached upon the airspace of the Vincennes.

It wasn't a deliberate shoot down, but considering that Iran is one of the premiere terrorist-sponsoring regimes on the planet, I view it as them reaping what they sow.

Call it bad karma, call it whatever you like.

Sh*t happens.

Unless you maintain that the event is worth of idiotic celebratory, type rhetoric, that's not what I and the FReeper I responded to were addressing, so it's a non-sequitor.

I think clothing being stripped off bodies by explosions and impact is quite common in crashes.

Bodies happen to be very strong structures and flesh has very high tensile strength, clothing not so much.

Hint: Your homework is to learn to follow a discussion in a linear fashion as to avoid misrepresenting others and looking like an imbecile.
