Despite reports that Tiger Wood's wife, Elin Nordegren, would get $750 million in her split from the golfer, it looks like she'll be getting a much smaller -- albeit substantial -- payout.
TMZ reports that Nordegren will get $100 million dollars. In exchange, she has agreed to a confidentiality clause -- meaning no books or interviews discussing her relationship with Woods or his alleged affairs.
The $100 million figure is much less than their pre-nup stipulated, according to TMZ, but Nordegren may have wanted to avoid a possible trial.
Nordegren will also likely receive substantial child support payments for the couple's two children, Sam, 3, and Charlie, 17 months.
There have also been reports that the pair's settlement calls for Tiger to keep any new girlfriends away from his kids.
Sam and Charlie are expected to live primarily with their mother, who may return to her native Sweden.
The divorce will be finalized sometime next week.
Sources connected to Tiger told TMZ, that the divorce is a “done deal except for the official filing with the court.” A source added that Tiger isn’t even worth the reported $750 million that she was asking for, but “she’ll do a lot better than she would have under the prenup.”
Either way, Elin is going to walk away with a handful of cash.
The reason Forbes says Woods can’t possibly be paying a $750 million settlement is because his net worth is about $600 million.
Writes Forbes senior editor Kurt Badenhausen:
“We’ve been tracking Tiger’s earnings since he turned pro in 1996. Last year he became the first athlete to earn a cumulative $1 billion through his income from prize money, appearance fees, endorsements and his golf course design business. Nike has been his biggest benefactor paying the world’s top golfer in the neighborhood of $250 million since 1996. The relationship has obviously bolstered Nike as its golf division reported annual sales of $638 million last week. Tiger’s annual earnings in 2010 will be down at least $30 million after sponsors like Accenture, AT&T and Gatorade walked away. He still earned $105 million over the past 12-months and ranks fifth on our recent list of the most powerful celebrities.
“Yet those earnings are before the tax man and his agents at IMG took their cut. And if you think Tiger made a killing in the stock market, think again. The S&P 500 is at the same level it was at 12 years ago. By our count Woods is worth $600 million and any divorce settlement is likely to be worth a fraction of current reports.”
Say what you will, but I do appreciate the way Elin has handled herself over the last few months and also the way she seems to be protecting her children from Tiger’s proclivities...
I know I could do it. Hell I wouldn't know what to do with that kind of money. Buy myself a new truck, I suppose, and maybe go on a guided elk hunt in the Rockies.

If it’s fair to say that Tiger’s wife has been showing class and dignity throughout this ordeal, wouldn’t it also be fair to call her an idiot and a gold digger for hooking up with this guy to begin with?
This hot, Swedish knock-out blond didn’t marry famous, Caublasian Tiger because she was madly in love with him. She married him because he was Tiger Woods. Now, she’s getting what she set out for, tons and tons of money. Maybe next time, she’ll marry someone for WHAT they are, not WHO they are.

In addition, Tiger’s off the ‘roids and the Canadian doctor who helped him “rehab”. His bulkiness is noticeably reduced since the Torrie Pines Open immediately after which, coincidentally, is when the PGA began testing for PEDs.

I would assume that she must also keep her next rich catch away from the kids.
$100 million is still a handsome reward for stupidity and extremely bad judgment.
