Blame game could 'boomerang' on Obama, strategist says

When signs of a severe economic downfall emerged more than two years ago, then-candidate Barack Obama was quick to point a finger at the man he hoped to replace.

Seventeen months into his administration, the message is often the same, and Republicans say it's time for him to drop the Bush bashing and take ownership of the problem.

"Nothing makes a president look weaker than pointing the finger at past administrations," said Republican strategist Ron Bonjean. "By blaming somebody, it looks like you are playing politics and people just want jobs. They don't care about whose fault it is. Playing the blame game only boomerangs on yourself."

Democrats controlled Congress in the last two years of the Bush administration and have controlled both the White House and Congress for a year and a half ...

Democratic strategist Julian Epstein said Obama needs to make the argument that the economy is on the climb and the stimulus has worked.

"The message has got to be optimistic and positive...

The White House needs to go on a confidence campaign and perhaps take a page from President Reagan's playbook, Epstein said.

"He really needs to spell out how we are coming back and it's morning in America again," he said.

BINGO BUMP to both of your posts!

“Democrats are now in their 4th year of complete control of Congress. I guess that fact would be too much for the Republicans to point out!???”

The republicans need to drive this home at every opportunity from now until Novemebr. Our economy started taking a dive a mere 10 months (fall of 2007) after the dems got control of Congress. Then we fell off a democrat cliff in the fall of 2008! The numbers tell the story and it’s high time for our republican leadership to shout it from the rooftops!

obama will never accept that the failure of his ideologically-driven policies is his fault or the fault of flawed policies

nah-

if his ideological solutions do not work, it HAS to be Bush’s fault - for making things SO BAD, obama’s revolutionary ideology can’t solve them

got that?

Like a kid who keeps dumping manure into the barn and expecting a pony will grow out of it

...nothing is going to ‘boomerang’ with the Dem base...the blacks/jews/unions/teachers/bureaucrats/homeless/felons/illegals ect. could care less....all they care about is keeping Dems in power because that’s how they get paid off.

It is getting better in one segment of society - the non-productive classes. Obama is using the stimulus money to pour cash into the urban dependent set who don’t work, never will, and rely on the largess of Democrat politicians to underwrite their lifestyle. Of course, these politicians don’t use their own money, they use the money of their political enemies, us.

Their aim is to pour even more money into the hands of these folks and to combine that with the organizational skills of the Obama campaign to turn them out for the midterm elections in numbers far greater than ever before. It won’t help in non-urban congressional districts, but could be the key to keeping the Senate, and will help in 2012 which is really the only thing Obama cares about anyway.

Obama has a plan. He will takes his licks this year, but by 2012 he intends to have another 20 million votes in his pocket with newly registered illegal immigrants making him unbeatable, at least in his own mind. If he does win in 2012, elections as we know them will become a thing of the past. Now is not the time for hope.

He wanted the position. He never wanted, or accepted the job.

Implicit in blaming others is the confession “I can’t fix it”. It reveals a sense of helplessness.

Obozo has Ozero credibilty anymore with a growing number of people. Telling more lies when people can feel and see the truth does not help a person’s credibility.

Obama will end up a very hated man except with those who wish to join in the destruction.

I think that the problem is that the putative leader of the world, the President of the United States seems to have little knowledge of, faith in or love for the country he was elected to lead. I think that the 2008 question of “what does a community organizer do?” has been answered. “Organize, not lead”.

I know! It’s so frustrating the way they never point this out. What is their problem????

The White House needs to go on a confidence campaign and perhaps take a page from President Reagan's playbook, Epstein said.

"He really needs to spell out how we are coming back and it's morning in America again," he said.

Oh.

My.

God.

How clueless can you get?!

Reagan ran that campaign, what?, after a year or so of solid recovery, after we'd zoomed out of recession with 6 and 7 percent GDP growth rates?

But then maybe this cluelessness is understandable. Despite it's recency, and despite -- no, make that because of -- its present relevance, the media, education, and other institutions controlled by the left, have fanatically pursued every possible means to suppress this history.

Prople don’t seem to understand that Obama doesn’t care if things get worse. He’s doing all he can to overwhelm the system. That’s how he’s going to have the opportunity to replace things with his Socialist systems. The Kenyan is evil.

The message has got to be optimistic and positive...

Could this be a challenge for a dour man (and his wife) who fundamentally hates America, hates white people, hates business, hates freedom, is a malignant narcissist, has a pathetic (and buried) educational background, has no leadership experience or skills, is a pathological liar, was born and raised in a communist cauldron, and thinks America's best days are behind it?

Somehow I doubt he is the right person to convey optimism for the future.
