US has to pay for provoking China

The widely anticipated and repeatedly postponed joint exercise between the US and South Korean navies in the Yellow Sea is still in the air. Yet the signs are that the other shoe will eventually drop in a week or two despite China's strong opposition.
True, the US has the right to play its war game against the imagined threat from North Korea on the high seas. But the anxiety on the Chinese side will be huge if a US aircraft carrier enters the sea connecting the Korean Peninsula and China - it would mean that major cities like Dalian, Qingdao, Tianjin and even Beijing are within the US attack range.
At this stage, China may not react through a show of force to the US fleet cruising into the international waters of the Yellow Sea. But it does not mean that the Chinese people will tolerate it. Whatever harm the US military maneuver may inflict upon the mind of the Chinese, the United States will have to pay for it, sooner or later.
Just look at the thousands of messages Chinese readers have left on the Global Times Chinese-language website. More than 92 percent of them agree that the joint naval drill will be a huge threat to China. Many voiced their concerns, in lines such as: It's a matter of the dignity of a big country; China has to grow even faster in order to avoid the bully and such shame; Don't trust the United States any more.
The US administration should note that its military activities near Chinese territorial waters will do nothing but stoke up the growing nationalism of the Chinese people, which will in turn pressure the government to be more cautious in China-US military cooperation and get tougher in defending its national interests.
The US provocation on the western Pacific is a typical act born out of the Cold War mentality.
This will only further isolate the US in these parts, as no East Asian country would like an outsider to mess up the region, and its neighborhood.
Developments in East Asia over the past 10 years contributed significantly to the economic boom of the United States in the decade before it suffered a setback from its own financial trouble.
As commander in chief, Barack Obama needs to rethink his role in East Asia, as to whether he is squandering the invaluable political heritage left behind by George W. Bush. It will be a tragedy if the US upsets the prevalent situation and turns the clock back on East Asian relations by decades.
Considering the growing economic, diplomatic, political and cultural ties the US has with China, the price the US has to pay for its irresponsible decision will be higher than it can envision now. If the US does not pay for this "adventure" now, it will pay in the future.

God help us. We're going to need it.
Comrade Obama must be really torn on how to handle the North Korea/ChiCom/Russia situation.

If the US does not pay for this "adventure" now, it will pay in the future.IOW, "we can't make the US pay, but by golly, we're gonna remember these (so-far-non-) events, and we're drinking milk..."
Red China is a bellicose totalitarian state. This kind of claptrap comes naturally to such states; with a few “running dogs” or “working class spirits”, this could be from North Korea or Albania in its darkest days.
“But the anxiety on the Chinese side will be huge if a US aircraft carrier enters the sea connecting the Korean Peninsula and China”
Good - my fighter pilot dad used to say that during a particularly hairy mission over Vietnam, the pilots were “cutting washers out of the seat” - hopefully, the sphincter tone of the Chinese government will increase exponentially the closer the USN gets to their territorial waters.
Colonel, USAFR
China chooses not to reign-in renegade moron Kim Il-Duce who is free to launch his missles towards Japan, continues his nuclear program in violation of agreements and attacks without provocation ships of a neighboring country.
China can kiss this American’s bonnie white ass.
“Hey Chicoms, when we want some crap out of you, we’ll bomb it out of you.”
It’s a shame that the U.S is now so bankrupt and impotent that it can’t even present a token show of force for it’s allies.
Hey GlobalTimes, suck on our 452 cruise missiles.
“Imagined” threat from North Korea? They recently attacked and sank a South Korean naval vessel, killing 46 sailors for no reason. What “imagined” threat? The North Koreans have fired missiles over Japanese territory....that’s OK too, I guess.
Meanwhile, Russian bombers have flown over Alaskan territory from time to time, and the Chinese are drilling for oil in the Gulf of Mexico.
The Yellow Sea is “international waters.” They are NOT Chinese waters. The Chinese people ought to get a grip on reality. Also, the “thousands” of messages left by “Chinese readers” on the Global Times web site.....me thinks that most of them were left by members of the PLA.
