You knew it wouldn't stop with cigarettes. And you know it's not gonna stop with soft drinks. It's going to go to any alcoholic beverage including beer and wine. I can't wait to see how it affects the San Francisco Restaurant Scene. There are all kinds of restaurants that serve food that's a lot worse for you than a coke. San Francisco has gone from being wacky to utter madness. It truly has become a very sick place. It use to be a liberal but sane place but has become completely politically correct. I don't go there anymore although I live only a few minutes away.

Many many people knew that it wouldn't stop at cigarettes. The libs have about dried up that well. There's always a new enemy to attack. I remember though when San Francisco tried to ban duck food in Chinese Restaurants. At least on that one it BACKFIRED big time.

I do all I can to completely avoid San Francisco. Yuk!

They're talking about city property, so they can allow or disallow any products on there they wish.

As to some of the other comments on this thread, in SF there are only two inalienable rights: The right to an abortion and the right to have random sexual intercourse with strangers.

I wrote this on the earlier thread about dingy Mika claiming Newsome her hero for this -- so what, they can't buy the over-priced sodee from the vending machine, it's not as though that is the ONLY source of a pop!

Somehow I really don't see denying folks the ability to pay $1 for a Coke they can buy at 7-11 for 75 cents is going to make the citizens of SF skinnier.

Email to me awhile back.... will be inserted wherever appropriate...
Now the libs don’t want us to drink certain drinks so they’re banned...doesn’t matter where.

THE FENCE: If you ever wondered what side of the fence you sit on, this is a great test!

If a conservative doesn’t like guns, he doesn’t buy one.
If a liberal doesn’t like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.

If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn’t eat meat.
If a liberal is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.

If a conservative is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a liberal is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.

If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a conservative doesn’t like a talk show host, he switches channels.
Liberals demand that those they don’t like be shut down.

If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn’t go to church.
A liberal non-believer, any mention of God and religion is silenced. (Unless it’s a foreign religion, of course!)

If a conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
A liberal demands that the rest of us pay for his.

If a conservative reads this, he’ll forward it so his friends can have a good laugh.
A liberal will delete it because he’s “offended”.

Well, I forwarded it to you.

He is banning them from machines on city property.

While I understand the principle, fair market, consumer choice, etc., I still fail to grasp what the BFD is that someone won't be able to shell out an excessive charge for his soda when he can tote a cheaper one in to work with him all the same. The soda is only banned from the vending machines, not city property, buildings, etal.

Lab chemicals good.

But they are big on "organic" food. Lab chemicals BAD!

If the City of SF offices have refrigerators, the employees can bring their own soft drinks from home.

That’s what I do because the prices at my work for soft drinks in the vending machines are too high, IMO. I save money by bringing my own soda from home.

Or will Gavin “any twosome” Newsome ban city employees from bringing soft drinks on public property? Its for their own good, you know. And that soy milk tastes delicious on a warm summer day. /s

Newsom hasn’t banned possession of those products by city employees on city property - yet. Give him time. It’s for their own good.

If I remember right there was a Coke commercial on TV in the 70s with a theme song about teaching the world to sing in perfect harmony. LOL

Exactly. That crap won’t sell well. Machines will disappear and prices will rise on the stuff people do buy, in order to compensate, which will in turn slow all sales.

A business killer...

That’s how I see it — if the machines stay, something has to replace the sugared sodas. How about, oh, apple juice?
Funny thing about the fruit juices though — their ‘natural’ sugars do a very nice job of rotting young teeth. My stupid hippie cousin wrecked her two kids’ teeth back in the sixties, causing expensive dental work and a sharp warning from the dentist to stop assuming everything ‘natural’ was so great, especially when putting the juice in baby bottles and giving it to little kids when they are in their cribs, to help them go to sleep.

Link to the words. (Barf Alert)

I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing

And as a bonus, there is a link to a Wave File so you can hear it being sung too! (Heave Alert)

So, Coke and Pepsi, how do you like your 60's friends now?

I am sure that the price is going to be something included in the contract for the machines. I would expect the prices to double or triple.

That's not what they mean by "organic." I'm just saying they aren't following their rules set up on their own terms.

Maybe they should replace the sodas with condoms.

I mean, if they’re so concerned about health, and everything.

Just saying ...
