David Frum Plays the Race Card (against Sarah Palin)
conservatives4palin ^ | Thursday July 8, 2010 | Ian Lazaran

David Frum has finally jumped the shark. Some conservative/right-of-center folks may have been willing to give him the benefit of the doubt before but playing the race card is something that is universally despised by conservative and moderates. Frum pulls the race card from the bottom of the deck against Governor Palin's new ad:

Here’s Sarah Palin’s new ad. Lots of images of the former governor speaking to adoring crowds, meeting admirers, encountering women and children....

Republicans normally work hard to ensure that their ads feature non-white faces, to present an image of welcome and inclusion.

In Palin’s ad -- not one. Now listen carefully to the audio, which twice warns of a “fundamental transformation of America,” twice emphasizes a threat to children and grandchildren from malign unnamed forces.

I think she’s talking about healthcare. I hope so. But she never does say so.

Frum pretty much stands alone with the radical left on this issue. A diverse set of voices from Republican insiders to Mediaite to Mika Brzezinski has applauded the ad.

Frum updates his post by conceding that he was mistaken about the ad not featuring minorities. What he has not done is apologize for his initial mistake and has not retracted his repulsive race-baiting post. Frum seems pretty desperate to increase traffic to his blog since it has slipped dramatically after the spike it received upon his departure from AEI (he gets the same amount of traffic as we do despite the fact that none of us are on CNN regularly).

Keep in mind too that the David Frum playing the race card against Governor Palin is the same David Frum who has openly said we should not go after the votes of Hispanics and African-Americans.

Blacks who support Palin fear they would be murdered by other blacks...
BTW, how about those black anchors on the evening news....

"That is not OUR problem, and certainly nothing that requires apologies or false, quota-based photo-ops to remedy."

Meanwhile our blatantly racist president flies around the country at enormous expense to the taxpayers giving campaign speeches surrounded by carefully selected crowds of nodding entitlement/union zombies to convince anyone foolish enough not to recognize it for what it is how popular he is across all demographic lines.

The voluntary Pravda Media will do all they can to assist in the illusion.

"Palin is in a mixed race marriage...She is? Does she have another husband besides Todd?"

Todd is part Eskimo. Wiki says "His mother, a former secretary of the Alaska Federation of Natives, is one-quarter Yup'ik,". So that makes Todd 1/8th Native American.

Unless you are adhereing to the Old South's "one drop rule" I don't think that can really be said to be a mixed race marraige. She is white and he is 7/8ths white. The kids are 15/16th percent white.

Even at the height of the anti-misegination crusade, circa 1910, exception were made for American Indians.

Virginia's Racial Integrity Act of 1924 made it "unlawful for any white person in this state to marry any save a white person, or a person with no other admixture of blood than white and American Indian." In writing the statute, one of the challenges that the Virginia racists faced was their own proud history. According to a publication from the Registrar of the State Bureau of Vital Statistics, the law had to take account of "the desire of all to recognize as an integral and honored part of the white race the descendants of John Rolfe and Pocahontas." Because of the Pocahontas loophole, you could have a little Indian blood (one great-great-grandparent) and still be counted as white. But "every person in whom there is ascertainable any negro blood shall be deemed and taken to be a colored person."

well said.

Also, I watch the Palin video and there was one woman in it who was obviously black. Also, as another said, Palin’s husband and kids are all part Eskimo (Native American).

He worked to throw Election 2008 to Obama and claims he is a "conservative".

Yup.

It’s obvious to me that Palin is not a racist. Like 99% of Conservatives, it’s just not a primary filter that we use to sort out the world. We seem to have taken that “content of your character” line a lot more seriously than the Democrats who continue to want to use race to measure everything.

On the other hand, I am exhausted with the asymetrical battle where Blacks, Mexicans, Latinos and other racial minorities successfully lobby for benefits, policies and programs that explicitly help their race. The “amnesty” bill would be one such obvious example. They have done this using the Democrat Party as the major vehicle for imposing their pro-their-race policies on our entire society.

It is entirely logical and necessary that Whites begin to organize for policies that are specifically beneficial to whites, else it’s like boxing with one hand against an opponenty using both of his. For instance the reason I want Affirmative Action repealed, most urgently, is it is Anti-White and I and my children are White. (It’s also Anti-Asian, so perhaps Asian groups might join us in that particular issue.) Merely pointing out that it’s unfair and violates the ideals of meritocracy is not enough to carry the day. It’s an example of asymetrical warfare leading to loss.

I would like to see some mainstream organization like the Euroepan American Legal Defense Fund (ala MALDEF), or National Association for the Advancement of Non-Colored People. These are 100% mainstream organizations that get millions in dollars from corporations and lobby continuously for their people. I want people lobbying for my people, too.

We’ve thought, for 20 or 30 years that eventually we won’t have these racial-grievance groups running our politics (and HR departments). But we do, and they are getting bigger and stronger, not smaller.

Time to fight fire with fire.

As for the GOP, it is already the majority party of White Americans. They do need to start standing up for the rights of the majority (like my kids not having to spot Blacks and Mexicans 200 points on the SATs to get into college), and quit worrying about how blacks feel about it.

The Democrats don’t like White People. They don’t waste one second worrying about whether, in supporting some new minority set-aside, quota of special funding, it will offend whites.

If blacks and Latinos can continuously lobby for themselves and we are forced to never, every lobby for ourselves I think over time they will win more and more battles.

If we could get whites to vote 95% for the GOP, the way blacks vote for Dems we would be in a great position to repeal much of the welfare state. The welfare state is disproportionately paid for by Whites, and dispenses benefits to Blacks. Why shouldn’t we organize to oppose such things. They do.

Went to the Frum site and watched the video. He has admitted that he was wrong when saying No Black, etc. when person pointed out at least one “person of color” and he has said nothing about four or five other comments giving a reference to other “persons of color”.
I hear that Sarah is very apologetic about the perceived slight and is planning to hold a meeting at the Detroit MI welfare offices where more “people of color” will be present. :&)

Well, I have cousins that are 1/8 Ojibwe.

That is enough to qualify for full BIA benefits,
as crappy as the benefits are.

Maybe the Feds still practice the "one drop theory".
