Hatch wears two suits: the one at home and the one in Washington. I gave up on him when he became Ted Kennedy’s big buddy, excusing everything that drunk ever did.

They know what obama wants to do and they are doing their best to not get in his way.

Paul Ryan rocks. Haven’t seen brains in DC for a century.
If it weren’t for the Duchess of Queensbury Rules, of seniority, he would have sailed past the Hatch/McConnell crowd. The only thing said in congress that can offer us a sane future have come from Paul Ryan. He and a couple of others are our only Washington fire power.

I have heard of him. But that isn’t the Senate and neither he nor Paul can save us from Kagan. God have mercy.

I am probably having a brain cramp, but is it even possible to filibuster a SCOTUS nomination? I thought a simple majority was all they needed.

It only takes one Senator (and a lot of coffee) to start a Filibuster. It takes 60 votes to stop it. If even one Senator decided to filibuster, the Senate would have to vote on cloture to stop it (unless the filibustering Senator fell asleep at the podium).

The Dems, including Obama, filibustered both Justices Roberts and Alito.

Funny, I don't remember Hatch using such strong language when these wonderful originalist justices were filibustered.

But Hatch is going ballistic about the mere mention of filibustering Kagan. Did he go ballistic about the possible filibuster of Roberts and Alito? Of course not.

One has but to view Hatch’s perpetually-smug countenance to take an accurate measure of the content of his character.

Voting for Orrin Hatch, after an asinine comment like that, would be a dirty thing to do. We should all suffer under the boot of wacko lesbian socialist “justice” for twenty-plus years because Orrin doesn’t want to offend anyone’s sensibilities? Pathetic!

They didn't filibuster Clearance Thomas. They just wanted an explanation on his sexual harassment that was discussed during the hearing and he explained himself and was voted into the Supreme Court. I think they ask questions about different topics for all Supreme Court Nominees. Kagan had to explain her stance on Harvard not allowing Recruiters on campus. Everyone gets questions.

Are you a democrat or what? Why the heck are you straight out lying to fellow FREEPERS? There was NO filibuster on Roberts so stop spreading lies. Alito was tried but failed. So before you post another word ensure that you are providing truth. We cannot afford to have conservatives lying when the Democrats do it all the time. One thing that conservatives are great at is telling the truth. I wish you would from now now.

Hatch just doesn’t get it. He still lives in a world where everyone plays by the rules.

The filibuster of a Supreme Court nomination is clearly unconstitutional.

That’s exactly why the Republicans SHOULD do it.

The moment Republicans sustain a filibuster for Kagan, the DEMS will invoke the “Constitutional Option” that the Republicans wimped out on (ie McCain and the gang of 14).

Then Supreme Court filibusters will be gone - for good.

Then 3 years from now we can look forward to Janice Rogers Brown replacing Ruth Bader Ginsburg while Dems can do nothing but scream bloody murder. (ok - so it’s a dream, but it’s Saturday and I’m sleeping in)
