HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Local and federal investigators were at a northwest Houston home Friday night where an explosion sent a woman to the hospital.

The woman was opening a package left at her doorstep in the 2100 block of Seamist Court Friday evening. She had found the shoe-sized box in front of her home about a day ago but didn't decide to open it until around 6:30pm Friday.

~~~SNIP~~~
The woman was transported to Northwest Memorial Hospital with facial injuries that are not life-threatening.
Officials with the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, as well as the Houston Police Department's homicide and bomb squad were at the scene investigating.
It wasn't immediately clear whether the house was targeted, however, Eyewitness News found out the home is owned by an oil company executive.
Generally if I find a strange box on my porch it has a load of squash from one of my neighbors.....
LOL, there’s so much of it in the neighborhood they’ve resorted to ring and run.....
Thought you might want this one for your ping list. The house belonged to an oil company executive.
I searched far and wide for a garden statue of a racoon...I am still looking. If anyone knows where I could find one let me know. LOL
Your wish is my command.
(If that won't work, try this one or this.)
Cheers! Cheers!
Who picks up a closed box on their doorstep or anywhere and doesn’t find out whats in it right away?
Me. Some people are just less curious than others, ya know?
BOL! A couple of decades ago a lot of neighbors and friends had gardens and of course squash was a big time production.
We love fresh vegies and fruit and often came home to a box or paper bag of goodies.
Now we have a great farmer’s market twice a week, most of our neighbors/friends now buy their goods at the farmer’s market. It is rare to have the gifts of nature left at home or delivered to my wife’s office.
This is what happens when an out of control dictator named B Hussein Obama villifies oil company executives.
Yet isn't it funny how he has appointed folks from BP to his Administration (e.g., Stephen Koonin, Undersecretary of Energy for Science was recruited from his Chief Scientist position at BP).
You might want to ask the mod if you can put the fact that this home was owned by an oil company exec in () in the headline.
Agreed, but please use brackets instead of parentheses, to indicate it is your own insertion and not part of the headline.
After the EXXON Valdez spill, my husband thought it best if we moved to a gated community, in case the company that he worked for had a similar event. The woman should have been aware that the anger from the left could result in such an attack. This takes eco-terrorism to a new level.
Then just how am I supposed to use the quilting fabric I routinely order after it has been through all this?
Quilting fabric will dry out from being dunked in the pool. Besides, you should only be taking such steps with suspicious packages.
Every package that you get should not be suspicious. The vast majority of packages are expected and benign.
Tomatoes are the usual at my door— from my brother, in a bag.
LOL! I know the ring-and-run thing. Squash and tomatoes can be like that some years.
Your husband sounds like a smart man. I agree that this takes eco terrorism to a new level. It could have been some ‘lone wolf’ inspired by our president as well. This is the real reason the press wants to obscure the facts surrounding this case. They don’t want to hurt the left or Zero. Same reason the press is not reporting on the Black Panther story and a host of other stories that paint the true picture of the marxists in this country and in this administration.
It sounds like the woman was aware of some ‘threat’ because the report states that she didn’t open the box for a few days. She should have called the bomb squad in from the beginning but probably didn’t listen to that little voice in her head. People need to trust their instincts more. God gave them to us for a reason.
The press is downplaying the event to prevent copycats who feed on sensational headlines.
She should have called her husband. I’m wondering what oil company the man worked for. I’m betting that it’s not BP, or they would have stated it.
